I’ve said it many times that the 987 Spyder is a $100k plus driving experience. It’s one of the most perfect sports cars I’ve ever driven, and I’ve owned nearly 20 or so Porsches of all vintages. It is slightly under powered for some, but for the average driver it’s about right. Its low production number, and importantly low production time period is sure to keep it an interesting car for some time. I can see the car becoming one of the most revered cars Porsche produced, but that may be some time coming.

Right now, the 987.2 Spyder is relatively depreciation proof. I’m not sure how it would increase in price like my 964s. It has the unique looks and great driving experience, but it is a secret to most as few are driven and seen in public. Witness the number of low mileage examples.

I’ve never heard anyone say that the 987 Spyder is effeminate, Boxster Base and S yes but not the Spyder. I know some may disagree but I do think the 987 Spyder will follow a similar path as the 89 Speedster. A little slow to gather followers initially but as time passes interest will gather steam and with limited quantities the values will go up. This will likely be emphasized as mainstream cars continue to move towards computer controlled inputs and further insulation between the driver and the road.
I do agree that the manuals will continue to climb at a faster rate than the PDK simply because of the additional engagement and differentiation to modern cars.
But as noted, none of this really does matter if the intent is to hold on to the car. I do hope that it continues to gain more respect over time, even with all the glowing reviews it is very underrated.

It's a really nice set of options and was originally spec'd with Guards Red wheels. I don't like that the seller didn't disclose the front bumper repaint to BaT when he's posted on FB about it.

Seems like a fair price for both sides to me when you factor in the fee. I think seller was aiming pretty high with the original ask here on rennlist.

That respray was very poorly done but fortunately if it’s just the bumper it’s not a big deal. I would budget to have it redone properly and make sure there isn’t any underlying damage. Bid accordingly with those costs in mind. How does the rest of the car look?

It drove great. I don't think the damage prior to the respray was structural. If it was, I couldn't tell at all. I was just surprised to see it as a CPO car at a dealership when even an untrained eye could tell it'd been painted.

Not sure that would keep me from buying it but I wouldn’t crest the $70k mark for it. It’s got the right options (except color IMO) and any decent body shop will have no issues making it perfect for about $10k

In my experience over the last 10 years the “CPO” has become a joke. When the program was first introduced a car had to be absolutely perfect in every way to be considered for CPO standard. Now I see cars that should’ve gone to the wholesalers listed as CPO all the time. I’ve seen cars with shot brakes, and all kinds of paint work, and interior flaws offered as CPO. It’s now a marketing tool to move along cars. It’s sad
