987.2 Spyder FAQ

The supplier sent me a small sample bag of these, so I’m going to watch them over the next 6 months or so. If one falls out again, I’m considering an internal score that would “lock” the main rib in. If that doesn’t do it, perhaps some black rtv on the ribs prior to installation. They’re cheap as long as you order gobs so I will figure it out and post back!

Hold tight until after the holiday. They are not direct to public so I’ll see what my minimum order needs to be. If it’s a 100 or more, there’s no sense in multiple people reaching out. I’ll get a bag and distribute.

Count me in for a few. I still have mine but I have seen exactly how they pop off and was fortunate to catch it when it happened. But I could see losing these if you’re in a hurry to put the top on and not paying attention. It would be nice to have spares if/when that happens.

Should be on this page:
https://www.poeppelmann.com/en/kapst...etail/gpn-320/
Click on CAD for GPN 320 GL 20 1-2. We printed with some rigid material, and found that printing at 90% scale worked best. If you are printing with a more flexible medium, i would think 100% would be perfect. I finished the caps with a satin black rustoleum spray paint.
Truth be told, my teenage son was the brains behind this job. If you have technical questions on using the software or a 3D printer, I'll have to defer to him. Good to have smart kids!
Good luck!

I'll keep checking. The only item I think I am still trying to value is the black full leather interior. I've seen numbers that say $3655, but my math comes up with $1945. Your PDF shows $2385 for sand beige all leather interior, so I am thinking $1945 is probably the closer number being that black was not a unique color.
Anyway, loving the car. Sunny and 56F here in NM today. Should probably go put some miles on her...

My 2011 has LWB and Black Full Leather with Alcantara, and I still have my window sticker. The Full Leather/Alcantara is listed as a $2,385. I also have an extended Alcantara package called "Spyder Interior Alcantara Pkg." listed for an additional $2,660. The car is loaded with almost everything - sport exhaust, headrest crest, sport shifter, Porsche logo on Alcantara center storage lid, and more. Even the rare Lithium Ion Battery ($1,700), which is still going strong. Only thing missing is PCCB. My car stickered at $78,865.
What I am missing is one of the top bow plugs, which I just checked today thanks to this thread. Never new is was missing! LOL Count me in for 3D printed replacements.

I have a white ‘11 Spyder with gloss black wheels that are on the verge of needing refinishing. While the black wheels with the silver outline accent the other black pieces of the car, the overall design of the wheel seems to be lost IMO unless you’re right up on them.
I’m thinking of having them refinished in a silver color so the design is more apparent. That being said, sometimes (in pictures) the standard silver wheel color on the Spyder can look a little “dry” or faded to me. Again, only going by pictures, it seems like I’ve seen a few Cayman R’s where the finish has a little more metallic and/or gloss to them. Does anyone know if they had a slightly different finish than the Spyder? I’m really torn & don’t want to regret painting silver, but the wheels are unique and the design seems kinda lost.
