The M4 GTS was able to pass US regulation by adding foam pads around the roll cage (most buyers of the GTS then removed when the car was purchased).

my dealer also informs me that it is very unlikely that Porsche will allow us Americans to get the cage....for what's it worth

In fact Porsche usually goes an additional step and removes the mounting points, so the stock cage cannot be added easily after purchase

In other words "Garage Queen" color ONLY

What about LED lighting?

So do you think that PAG feels that US consumers won't pay the luxury tax on foam? That it would cut too much into their profit margin by supplying it at no charge?

They actually may be forced to do so by the DOT certification representative assigned to PAG.

^ True.
Only my '07 RS (one of 12 USA cars?) has the welded Euro mounting (F/R) points.
None of my subsequent RS's have mounting points.

early USA VINS had them. My 2007 vin is #2356 and has it.
Not sure what the cut off VIN was.

Well that depends. It might just be a cunning way of ensuring the highly boosted turbo cars come in to cool off in hot weather than being flogged endlessly on track like the NA GT cars are so do not end up overheating.

If you parked a Mclaren every 20 mins on track or 3 laps of the 'ring I reckon you'll never overheat the car into limp mode either....

Changing rims to black would make it a proper bada$$ car.

In my experience with Macs on track, its the heat soak through parking em up that causes the problem's.

My UK dealer is saying March delivery. Can someone please comment when Europe and UK dealers are getting their first cars?

My dealer also said they will likely add one or more
colours by then. Is this likely from your experience?

Thanks

Nah, that's definitely Lava. Lava's one of the most polarizing colors because it never looks the same. In my opinion, it's looks at it's worst in bright sunny conditions where it gets washed out and looks milky. But looks at it's best at a deep darker sharp orange when it's under really good indoor Fluorescent lighting that makes it look like the color of a Persimmon. Then ofcourse there's the really odd time of day where it almost has a Salmon look to it. In some pics it can look amazing and others, eh, not so much. But personally, I've seen the color in person enough on 3RS's to know that I actually like the color but in my opinion must be coupled with black wheels and wing uprights.
Agree on Lava.....That's the one for me.

Default Premiums in Europe

Unfortunately I was NOT able to get an allocation at list price here in Switzerland ...

Now I am looking at premiums.

Looks like the current level (asked) is about 90k CHF for an official Swiss allocation and about 50k for a German "import" allocation.

The Swiss official cars can be had ONLY with a leasing arrangement from AMAG and the re-sell is "forbidden" for 6 months ... not that I care as I plan to keep the car and drive it a lot, to complement my 993 GT with a 991 GT2 RS, possibly in the same yellow ...

Any info on the premiums asked in other european countries?
Additional intelligence would be appreciated to help pulling the trigger.

Anyhow the car (GT2 RS) looks like will be less of a "flipper's festival" than the latest Porsche GT products ... also the collectors' market is cooling off significantly here in Europe (IMHO).

Thanks
