It's ALIVE!!!
Since there is no coolant, only ran it for maybe 10 -15 sec. No banging or clunking. The cam tensioners pumped up but there is some shaking down needed. Sounds like it's running on 5 cylinders. The coils looked old and cracked so its not a suprise. Once coolant is in there, I van run it longer and use an IR thermometer to see which cylinder is not running.
But so far, I'm happy that it fired up.

Just so you all know what is going on, I bought a 2004 Touareg for $8500.00 at the same time that Imre bought the 911. I bet him a steak dinner he couldn't have a running car for $8500.00. I think he is at $8300 or $8400 and I don't want to buy that dinner...

I know it's all in goof fun, no worries.
Rod (Gaugeman69) dropped by today. The rain stopped long enough to look at the car. Got it started again a few times while he was keeping an eye/ear open at the engine. He suggested that the engine seemed to run fine but didn't want to idle. I'm not used to the way a flat six runs so it sounded like a one cylinder wasn't firing. What was happening was that if I had my foot on it just a little bit, it would idle around 500rpm but then, when I took my foot of it, it would go down to 400 and stall. So his suggestion was to look at the idle air controller. Took it off and sure enough, it was carbonned up. Sprayed some gasket removed, paint thinner and then rinsed it out with liquid wrench. Re installed it and now the engine runs like a charm. Uploading the video now and will post a links soon.

Thanks guys. Nice to see the end result but there is still some work left. It needs to pass emissions and then a safety. Fired it up again for a few seconds just to hear it run. Now it's beer time!

Safety should be easy, I don't think emissions will be a problem. Running on 5 sounds nasty but I am sure there are a ton of used ignition coils out there that would help. I threw mine out and didn't keep them around, which I am sure one out of the 5 would have sufficed.

The car sounds awesome and the story was great. What shape is he rest of the car in? So you plan to keep it or flip it? Would love to see more pics of the rest of the car.

The rest of the car is is excellent shape, looks like a 150k km car. I'm keeping it for sure. My concern with the e-test is all that oil that went thrpugh the catalytics. I hope it didn't kill them or else there is no stak dinner.

Time to do a late night ninja operation and fill the cats with oil...![evilgrin](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/evilgrin.gif)
The rest of the car is really nice. I agree it doesn't look like a 300k car at all.
All the gravel in the rad openings in the front bumper shows it was a year round car.
One of the cases for driving it lots. The IMS bearing was fine.
