Feels totally different. They like to rev. And low end torque is nothing like the V8. But the newer design is really evident. Thigs are more refined but the interrior quaily is a bit less than expected. Feels like a Miata with *****! Handling is very good. Haven't yet pushed it to the limit but the weight is definetly in the back.

Got a little over 600km on it since it was plated last Friday and so far so good. One coil short out in the wet, works fine when it dries up. The bank 2 (passenfer side) cam solenoid code isn't coming back. Maybe it needed a few heat cycles to start to work normally.

The wife is taking it to work tomorrow....wish me luck!

I cringed the first time my wife drove my car but I actually enjoyed watching it roll down the road and listening to the sound.

Car is still holding up well. Have 2500km on it so far. Try to drive it at least a couple days a week. Want to rack up a few thousand KM before declaring this IMS bearing as a viable option too.

Imo, I read the entire thread today. Thanks for taking the time to show how you revived what many "experts" would have deemed a "dead" 3.4 996. Awesome job,,,just one complaint:

Why did you post it where its so hard to find? This should be in a DIY or Renntech thread! Great info!

When I first picked up this car, I went to do some research on the 996 forum and noticed a lot of useless arguing and criticizing on that forum. Unlike the 928 or other heavily used by DIYers forums, the 996 forum isn't like the others I'm used to. The last thing I needed was useless arguing filling up this thread. There are a few DIYers on that forum but some are not willing to share any real information, in the fear of loosing business. I didn't want this thread to become another arguing and fighting platform so I decided to post it here first. As you can see, the thread was kept civilized and I'm happy with that. Once I put another 2500km on the IMS bearing and all looks good, I'll cross post it to the 996 forum for everyone else to see another viable option for the bearing. Something that doesn't cost a lot.
