Tons of 911’s for sale!

I'm curious where is that number coming from? I count 173 992s for sale at Porsche.ca when you count the individual cars...31 of them GT3s. Pre-Owned also includes Porsche Approved Certified Pre-owned. Of course, that doesn't include cars for sale at dealers other than Porsche stores, nor private cars for sale (like mine).

Porsche website showing 992 GT3s in the $290s and starting to show 991.2 RS in the $280k range. 34 new 911s for sale (bloated builds mostly)
14 brand new 718, mostly bloated (except maybe a nice GTS 4.0), out of 82 used 718 for sale, 12 are GT4RS flips. Price are slowly dropping for these cars too.
When those dealers are paying high interest long enough it's gonna start to show this winter. Patience.

Most of the new inventory is high build or Turbo/Turbo S.
I don't see prices coming down a crazy amount as the cost of new is so high.
In the meantime, here is something funny to look at and think about….

i remember the GT3 thread from not long ago when people were awaiting delivery. The theme at the time was for many to buy these cars, drive them for the summer and sell them at huge profit. But if you get the timing wrong, you may not make as much profit as you thought , or worse, be stuck with a depreciating asset.
I think its good to have many cars available, this should drive down prices if people need the cash for other things.

I was looking at some old spreadsheets that I did in 2021 when considering a newer 911. At that time, a low km 2017 Base was about $95k at retail. Today, that same car is about $120k! If you take inflation into account, the car should be about $105k today less 2 more years of depreciation. I see no reason why the price differential between new and used will not return over the next year or two...especially if we do enter into a recession.

Though there is always some truth that the guys that spent nearly $400K on a car probably have a really big bankroll so they aren't losing much sleep over losing $100K on a car overnight, I have to imagine that it still is a crappy feeling.

Slightly different take on this thread as you guys are mostly talking newish but the Canadian 997 market seems to be stubbornly high. Decent examples of a carrers s manual coupe are now 6 figures. Like really???

Everything is dropping: cars, houses, boats. I think the toy department will just drop faster and more so than others. I talked to someone from a luxury brand (non Porsche) dealership this week and was informed that they are shifting focus on the secondary market from sports cars to SUV's and sedans.

I was heavy into the market for a 997.2 when I got mine. Not sure it’s an ideal spec C2S (small damage on CarFax, 50,000kms) but I got it for less than 90K. I did see a great spec 997.2 C2S listed at Pfaff a while back and it was asking 100K and disappeared around the same time I got mine in September.
