Right. Gotcha. faster and way cheaper....and most USA guys seem to stay away from the rain (notice how you almost never see a wet track in a US RLers track videos?) LOL.

My wife has been busy. They may not be pristine but hopefully they are true and sticky. They certainly came at a good price. About all I can afford if the wear predictions are correct.

Just putting a final shout out for the RSG track day at Pukekohe this coming Monday 27th (Akl Anniversary).

We have 20 RSG members signed up for the day and room for a few more. Don't be shy - will be running 2 groups based on speed so great for those who want to take it a bit easier. Only requirements are helmet, cotton overalls and drivers licence.

Phil - I thought you may be keen? Any others?

Pete. Just looking at your signature and it may have been said before but it looks like your next car in the cycle of things is a 964....why dont you put a deposit on Davids now and pick it up in 18 months time....?

Yep - every 2nd car has been a red 964... however I just broke that with the 944 followed by the red Cayman. But didn't you know - the Cayman is the new 964!!

Matt - I understand why!

And nice spotting re the green one - I've seen that one on Stanley St before - couldn't catch up to it before it turned toward City. Always nice to see an interestingly coloured classic

Caught up with Gary who bought my C4 at the festival on Sunday - a few pangs of regret to be fair - but she has a new plate and he seems to be loving it. In time Paul and I will strong-arm him out to HD!

Bring it on boys, she's for sale for sure, better get it before I wear it out. Will be campaigning it hard over the winter track days. Actually, I'm looking forward to those lovely sparkling winter days at the track. Summer brings the weather for sure, but the heat with it. New set of Endless pads being fitted this week hopefully. Might even roll out the new set of Dunlops on the D90's. Classic set up for a chubby little '64.

Thats the spirit David. Use them up and enjoy them, they dont age like wine unfortunately. Agree with you re the weather. Our air cooled cars particularly like the crisp air. The NITT was perfect conditions I reckon. The softer compounds like it too...

Good. I knew revving the C4 each time I went past your house would keep you on track (pun intended).

Haven't got around to checking intake temps but I did notice that I have the aluminum intakes rather than the later plastic ones, and they were hot. Definitely down on power with afternoon sessions last weekend. Need some cold days to lay down that sub 1:20 lap. My Z221s are now slicks. It won't get any better.

Thats interesting John. I still believe that's worth exploring further. If your scan tool can read live IATs then drive down the motorway sit on 80 for a few minutes take a stable reading, run it up to 100 do the same and 120 - then pull onto an off ramp and run a few minutes at 50. My guess is you may see those IATs building gradually at speed then ballooning at 50kmph. The true behaviour should be pretty much flat at 80+ the building gradually by maybe 5-10C at 50 (from my experience using the LINK). IAT affects HP - oil temp probably bottom more end bearings....

Doesn't help that the intake faces the hot plenums. I will be in that area on Saturday extracting the alternator and will see what I can do to turn it to a colder airflow.

Steve said he tried three tails on the trademe race car and ended up choosing the one I have on mine. I see the 964 spoiler up is very similar because of the curtain. I'm not convinced changing the tail would do anything.

Feeling quietly confident next time at HD will see 1.20.xx. A pity I won't see that track for some time. Also quietly confident about Puke. It helps having already done it before. Roll on Monday.

I have used the 214's for about 18 months now on the 944 and they are excellent, brilliant grip in the dry and cheap, but very limited when it gets wet. I run Hankook racing wets in the rain and they are excellent, but you need plenty of rain or you kill them in one session.
