Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?
Three Wheelin'
Went to the RUF factory around 2006. Full of technology like sealed room engine (not chassis) dyno. Lots of RUF cars around and had a ride in his personal dark green 964 body shaped turbo. I forget the model names now but RCT? It was tuned for road/touring so not mega hp around 450, but beautiful finish in leather and solid. Not a single squeak or rattle. I came home and started thinking about ordering one but ended up buying race cars and doing targa for the next 10 years. Still should have pulled the trigger of course, they had a few 964 bodies in white left. Momentos from that trip were just the vhs vid of Fazination and some yellow bird race boots. Here is a link to an article about the car.

I’m still trying to digest that sale. Strong bidding from a swag of people, and the top five weren’t from Auckland. It was LHD as well. I had a LHD alfa sud in the late 80s. To be honest I struggled to enjoy it as much as I wanted to. Passengers in particular were nervous facing oncoming traffic.
The site I check is http://www.japaneseusedcars.com/auct...ns_results.htm. The 964s are at circa page 100. Prices are all over the place, but there is no bargain in an international market.
Macca noted that the air cooled group have largely been awol from track events. I think that will get worse as insurance won’t replace a well looked after 964 with another one. Instead you’ll be out of the tribe with money in your pocket. To be honest I struggle with current values. I was happy with mid 60s as I could look at turning them over occasionally. That’s no longer possible as I don’t know where any car will trade to the nearest 5k any more.

Sam. thanks for the write up. Very interesting to hear your feedback. I concur on most points. Well have to key swap when I get the Alfa Giulia QV landed.
GT3 allocations are pretty hard to get anywhere, let alone UK where they seem to be heavily subscribed. I dont think anyone will know till the allocations are released. I do however believe everyone who orders one will eventually get it. They will make record numbers of these.
To the best of my knowledge GT3 was still available to order in NZ as of last week...

I've grown to really enjoy the Drivetribe channel. The production value is good and the content generally interesting. H Catchpole seems to do many of the shows and is genuinely engaged Porsche enthusiast. This recent one looks like fun

Look forward to that! Had a quick peek inside one last week at a launch event in Palm Springs – they look even meaner in person and sound legit Ferrari DNA. Getting a good reaction there with a queue for the ride alongs, base model also also well represented and should do well for US market with quite a grunty 2.0. All 8 speed models in US, Big push with commercials playing the NZ Jeep Ad music over there - talk about sharing Chrysler group assets.
Mine has the carbon sparco seats. Here's a picture of it being delivered in the U.K. Friday...
The "Green Meanie" just went to OCD for a full going over. Their Fluorescent lights make me the car look fluro like acid green!

I've done three trips to Auckland return in the last 7 days in the Focus RS taking the back roads including SHW22. Can't say the fuel mileage is improving - now at 3000 km and fully run in, this trip around 320km for a tank. Thank god the trip computer is accurate - rolled into town with 7km and 1.4 litre left in the tank!
The Focus RS is the most comfortable car I've ever owned - something to do with the firm seats with pronounced lumbar and the upright driving position. I felt so fresh after getting up there Thursday I did my business and dove back immediately- 8 hours in the seat and still felt fine. Doug would be pleased :-)
The car is an absolute blast - for the money such great bang. I'm just loving all the back roads (about 65% of my route are awesome B roads). Its even better in the wet. Compared to the GT4 the clutch is manageable in traffic. However the worse part of the drive is always hitting Auckland. Not sure how you guys do it - I'm not a patient man would drive me nuts! Really loving living in Taupo - has everything a man could need :-)

Macca, you and I share a problem. Our posts don't always appear on forum when posted.
