Nice one John. Very exciting.
So just for the record Herman is officially off gentlemanly Sunday drive duty and now official track weapon again? Normal transmission has resumed...

Good work! You're a glutton for punishment.

It's very tempting to keep Herman under a cover for dry weekend drives and thrash the higher mileage C4 at the track, but Herman is best suited for the harder work and has been track tested. Plus I can't afford to leave the door open even if everyone else is supposedly driving 7/10ths

Unconsciously I have hit upon an interior plan that mirrors the Turbo 3.6 interior and the rest of the car will follow the low mod route. It will be a reliable sorted car for an air cooled enthusiast.

There's huge satisfaction expanding your skill base and this build will reinforce some existing skills and develop new ones. It will also test my ability to build to a budget. I have no intention of doing another Herman with so much replaced. Except maybe the clutch where it will have to be fairly new to avoid being replaced while I'm in there.

I'm seeing a retirement plan here John. Dodgy John's Restoration Shop?

Certainly a retirement activity in the making albeit how many 964s will be driven enough to need work in 10 years time?

Haven't thought about that yet. It's a big decision. Donna would probably call it Folly.

Looking closely at the backdate at Rennsport I couldn't help critiquing the changes. This car will be as close to original as possible, albeit the interior will change from Linen to Black. I may even ditch the sports seats idea and just recover the OEM seats in black leather. I'm half hoping it will be so drive able that my wife will actually use it.

Here's some excellent inc car footage from the Tasmania Targa. Vmax 269 kmph on on straight stretch! I think the translation of video to youtube has speed the footage up somewhat...
