Fact #1: I need to buy a new steering wheel (current is getting a bit worn, and doesn't have a quick disconnect)

Fact #2: I need to get some form of race dash with telemetry, etc.

Is this two birds, one stone?

GT Gears, rebuilt. I don't recall the ratio. he posts here often. Give them a call, great turn around time on the rebuild and very helpful.

What is their website address ?

Do you guys recall if you had to drop the transmission to install your LSD ?

My Indy says grand has to be dropped : 14 hours for LSD installation

Wow, that looks like $10k to me!

I just put this one in my car and love it. The smaller size feels real good.

... why is the short shifter not 'recommended' ? too much forces ?
I run a stock 997 shifter. Shorter throw than a 996, but not so short it will bind up.

You do have to drop the trans to install the LSD (the first time for sure). It needs to be fitted (shimmed) into the stock trans correctly.

My best guess for shop time to do it would be:
1.5 to remove trans
2.0 to fit LSD
1.5 to re-install trans

7 hours max. I can't see 14.....

yeah the pricing on that AIM wheel might be an issue (I haven't gotten numbers on it yet), I'm sure it's a premium to separate wheel + race dash/telemetry but the question is how much of a premium.

I have a 320mm OMP wheel on the car now that I like, if nothing else I might just buy another one of those and have a quick disconnect fitted to it.

I'm a little older than some here at 54 but my aging eyes would have a hard time shifting focus from track to something just a little more than a foot or so in front of me. I tend to read my lap timer constantly and I'm not sure if I would love it. Aside from this small issue it looks really cool.

OK kids I'm starting to gut the interior on my 996. what needs to stay? i.e. door release levers? handles? center console? etc?

if I remove the wiring for the factory seatbelts will I have an eternal "fasten seat belt" light on the dash?

If I'm switching all the glass to lexan do I need to keep the window seals?

etc. any and all advice welcome.

Thanks in advance!

I have a set of gutted OEM doors sitting by the garage if anyone wants them. Too bad you're in Florida now....

Agreed. His Indy is either inexperienced, greedy, or both....
