also if one of you gents could post pics of:

a) your door latch assembly (assuming the factory inside door handle is removed)

b) frunk and engine cover latch assemblies (assuming the factory levers are removed)

that will give me a better idea of what to remove and what not to

per Spec rules it must be "factory steel", so I guess that rules out the GMG or Getty stuff.

anyone have a part #?
If it helps, here's my car during its build. Cherry sunroof panel removed, awaiting the "new" skin. These are out there used and should be easy enough to find.

Took out my existing sun roof and shop removed all the hardware etc and used small metal straps welded the old metal skin in place... didn't even have to paint it...after cage was put in.

You want the GT3 non- sunroof roof panel. I do not have a part number but a new one is about 475.00. Forget getting a used one they are not out there and you will pay to much for shipping. Order it from your local dealer and pick it up. The steel roof is legal in all classes as you could order the car without a sunroof. As for installation, We use panel bonding adhesive to install the roof, you can paint the inside of the roof and install it without burning the paint.

This is all the info you should need on the roof.

Yes both front and rear glass must be removed as there are spot welds across the front and back, Also you must remove the roof panel trim on the left and right sides to drill the welds there, and there are 4 allen screws with ferrals at the roof rack attaching points that must be removed. All of this is not hard to do, but i do recomend having a glass company remove the front and rear glass, they have the correct tools and you will break the windshild if you do it yourself. The replacement roof panel will fit like a glove you just need lots of clamps.

Your cage builder will love you for it, and you will get a better cage.

It must have been traumatic, cause I seem to have blocked that completely out of my memory.

BTW, here is what my door looks like. There's not a lot of sheet metal left.

cool, thanks for the (gigantic) pic! that helps a lot. I see you left the weatherstriping on...is that to keep the door aligned properly?

I have no idea what's up with that nut. might be Dremel time.

Fixed the picture size. I was going to suggest a plasma cutter. ;-)
