Porsche, who's known of this issue since day one and chose to ignore it, or an individual consumer GT1 engine owner who's suffered the misfortune of coolant loss, whether it be water-wetter or glycol?

And if it is only a $2K fix on a +/- $100K car and that can save you, the car, your weekend, and other peoples cars.... WTF?? Stop crying and fix it!

Cooked motors from emissions devices on 2.7 74's
Airboxes exploded on early CIS cars
Head studs snapped on SC's on up
Broken distributor belts and (lack of) head gasket leaks on 964's
Clogged air ports causing a CEL on 993's
D-Chuncked engines on early Boxsters
IMS failures on Boxsters and 996's
RMS failures on 996 and 997's
Plastic Coolant lines on Cayennes
Glued coolant lines on GT1 engines

May as well wrap all of them up into one big Class Action!

I think the level of added danger to the driver, passengers, and others on the road is a critical issue.

OVR's chief instructor felt so too.

From the perspective of the party careening into a wall as a result of P's 'design-defect' and the owner's 'cheap-a^&ed non-action'; how about both, equally??

..PS: we need a 'beat a dead horse' emoticon..

At the risk of beating a dead horse, and with the caveat that I am not a products liability lawyer (I would say that I am a lawyer but I am afraid that I might be banned given the comments here), I think it would play out as follows.

The driver now knows the risk and has a duty to fix it before going on the track. So we have come back to where we started. The driver needs to fix the part before tracking the car. OVR has it right. I think the thread is really done, but who knows.

I can tell you the issue is real, I've had one 997 Cup blow antifreeze on me on the front straight at WGI due to the water pipe issue. The second time it was also a 997 Cup, only this time it was entering the laces and ended with me hitting the tire wall with damage to the front and rear of my car.

I agree this is an issue.

I can not think of a DE in the last few years where I did not see at least one GT3 blow a coolant line.

Lets get that class action suit rolling! How about all the GT3's that wrecked at DE's due to people with more ego than skill? Sounds like PCNA is in trouble now!

Gary it was just an observation, not an accusation.

Wasn't picking on you, this whole thing is just soooooo Wizard of Oz to me...

It's like suing Porsche because they put 600 hoses on their POS 944 Turbos. I could sue for the mental anguish that I had watching my friend Dan aimlessly walking around the pits praying for help during a race with a hose in his back pocket.... it was like having your pet bunny butchered in front of you.
