Danica Patrick at a crossroads amigos. Should she just go away now?

Larry, I believe it is relevant that she is doing better than us. I mean, who are we to say that she's some horrific driver? Can we do any better? And then, as well, she makes it (qualifies) for these races. That alone is quite an achievement. I just believe that some folks, perhaps yourself included, are missing the point. It takes serious driving skill to even be able to qualify, let alone to win. I think it's just 23 cars that qualify, right? And did you see how many tried out? So she's not just better than a half dozen folks, she's also better than the ones that never even qualified.
These are just my thoughts. Doesn't make me right and doesn't make you wrong. But I can't believe someone has picked (the OP) on a driver who made it in with an elite group. Even if I was last to qualify, I'd be walking in sunshine if I even made it.

A win is a win. Do you have any idea how many races have been won on fuel strategy? Are you going to discount all of them or just Danica's?
Furthermore, would you give the race to the guy who ran out of fuel while leading instead of Danica? If so, then you have to give the 2005 Indy 500 to Danica which she had "won" until her team told her to save fuel while leading with only a few laps to go. They later found out she had plenty of fuel when they drained the tank after the race.

Her one and only win was from fuel strategy, OK I'll give her that. What I won't give her is that she is a winning percentage race car driver and a champion. Defend her all you like, you must believe the media hype surrounding her. I have seen the results of her career and I don't think she is anything special when it comes to the actual racing.

Who's calling her a champion? And, no I don't believe all the media hype. She's clearly overexposed in the media. But unlike you I can understand and appreciate race results. The fact is that she's won an Indy Car race, and closely contested a number of others. It certainly doesn't make her a champion, but it's more than a lot of her competitors can say.

You have no idea how much Danica puts into her driving versus her brand. You are assuming because she is a better marketer than driver that she puts more time in on her brand.

Completely out of line, rude, and unacceptable remark. Thank you for making my point on the sexist tone of the question.
I defend people based on their performance (data) rather than on perception, or the fact that they are woman (attractive or otherwise).
My comments are as the father of a daughter who I expect will need to deal with trolls like you.
Cheers,

Cheers,
My point is not sexist. It's very well true and some of her biggest fans openly admit they get aroused by more than her driving.
Sorry the truth bothers you.

PC people can't handle the truth. It's one of the reasons why they fall all over themselves calling others sexist when we don't worship at the alter of her womanhood rather than her actual record.

From what I’ve seen of her in interviews, on track, and off track; I personally, I do not care for her at all as a driver or even as a person. Her record as a driver is OK at best plus see seems very arrogant. But, she brings sponsorship money in and the general masses seem to follow the race series closer because “a quite girl” is in it. This thread is a great example of stirring up interest in IRL just because Danica is around. So, while she is not good for the individual races, she does seem to be good for the overall series. Just one more point of proof that life is not fair.
Tangent – I think I read earlier in this thread that NASCAR drivers are not allowed to race at Indy, why?

NASCAR could give drivers attempting both races a break, but they choose not to do so. There is no reason why a crew chief shouldn't be able to represent his driver at the meeting. They could also video the meeting and force the driver to watch it before the start to claim his grid position. When drivers attempt the "Double" it increases interest in both races.

Thank you for further proving my point.
Thanks x2...
I was just handed a coupon for a free ticket to the Milwaukee Mile race. Guess who is pictured?
Yup, the driver currently ranked 15th in the IRL points standing.
Will this sell more tickets? Probably, hard to say.
Historically over-hyped athletes do not have a very loyal or long lasting fan base. Then add in the drama with her attitude......remember her tossing her entire team under the bus at Indy?
Someone needs to hire her a coach that has the ***** to grab her by the helmet and say: "Shut up and drive".
Or just go to NASCAR where mid-pack performance = big payout.

Remember the Paul Tracy thread where you claimed that PT had not won anything? What was my response? I posted the facts (race record) to prove you wrong (which you acknowledged), just as I did here before you came after me without the same admission.
Thread link: https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...-say-more.html
So, do I have a thing for PT too? No, I just cannot stand people posting BS with no regard to the facts. It demonstrates your bias.
You posted a bunch of BS about DP not being competitive against her peers. This is just plain factually untrue. This is my only point. Never did I once claim that she was not overhyped, etc. I believe she is, but that is not relevant in any way to her record that you refuse to acknowledge.
If you actually knew me you would never make the PC claim as it is absurd.

The driver that you are clearly not going to want any part of on Sunday is the suddenly infamous Danica Patrick (Odds to Win the Indy 500: 25 to 1 at SportBet Sportsbook). We know that it’s a “sexy” pick in more ways than one to bet on Patrick, but the truth of the matter is that she just isn’t that great of a driver. A novelty, sure, but when push comes to shove, she doesn’t have the horses behind her, nor does she really have the team to be able to keep up with the rest of the boys in this field. Don’t be shocked if she is once again nowhere to be found in the top of the charts by the time this race is over. By any other name, Patrick wouldn’t even have odds on the board for the Indy 500, as she would likely just be a part of the field.
Should be interesting nevertheless.

Loosen your bullets Fuzzlette!
The Hacker-Pschorr beer tent in Munich is where I once met a Teutonic Goddess years ago, taking such good care of me during that weekend... I almost renounced my American citizenship!
But THIS Hacker actually has a keen sense of humor and can smell BS a mile off, which is highly unusual for these types of Rednecks. Good stuff all around dude. Why you hatin' so damn much these days?
