Massa blocking? He should've ceded the position?

WTF? The pussification of society/racing continues...just sad.

Massa may have been blocking, but he should have been until race control tells him otherwise. If Massa had conceded the position any easier it would have been his last race for Ferrari. I was surprised that McLaren did not apply good strategy and reserve the KERS + wing for the straight. It took them several laps before they figured it out. I think the racing will get better with the wing element and you may see some passing this year.

I agree. Massa is a wounded animal and fighting for his racing career. He might have to give his spot to Alonso by team orders, but there us no way he was going to let a Mac pass him easily.

I don't think it was blocking and Button should have given the spot up immediately. Ferrari was smart in letting Alonso pass Massa immediately so that Button would have had to give up 2 spots had he done so instantly

Is Petrov now better than Button ? Webber and Heidfield who seem to have forgotten how to drive. Petrov was on his way out of F1 before Bernie got the vig for his Russian GP, now he's the next Kubica ....

Funny how you have Vettel outdrving his teammate , when he could not do so last year, also funny how Webber got one of those Barichello extra pitstop strategy ...

The sport has become a joke , another black eye by Bernie .....

I thought the most telling moment of the w/e was after qualifying during the interviews.
The interviewer asks Seb about not using KERS. Lewis just looks down with a wry smile and shakes his head- WTF. He can't believe they all got smoked the way they did WITHOUT the need for KERS by the Red Bull.

Take pole by more than 1/2 second and lead the race start to finish.
Guess they'll use it (KERS) when and if they need it.

I remember when KERS was introduced and teams had the option of using it or taking the weight out it for the system. I believe it was 80lbs or so? Question is did Red Bull have this option, but not announce it?

It is obvious that Red Bull does not need the KERS system. They are doing great without using it. The reason that Button was penalized was because Massa had the line and he did not have to surrender and as someone else said, if Massa had let Button slide by, he would have been racing back in Brazil someplace It was a fun race and it demonstrates that 2011 is going to be a memorable season

Did a little digging. Red Bull has admitted they did not run or outfit the car for KERS thus avoided the additional weight it bears. The plan to run a very different system of their own for Malaysia. That could be interesting................

Blocking is not racing, it's just being a spoiled brat. It's like admitting that you're slower but still not going to let anyone by. I'm not in favor of giving up positions or ceding, but keep your position by racing for it, not by being a dick. If a guy is fast enough to get alongside you, you don't hold him off by taking him to the wall. If you're so good, there is a tactic called a repass. Try it. Nothing to do with pussification, whatever that is. What other form of racing allows or even encounters such antics?

Red Bull did not run KERS a couple years ago when they could have electing to go with less weight vs. the 80 hp for 6 seconds or whatever the first rule was.

Blocking should be punished, and the "one-move" rule doesn't do it.
Funny, so it's OK when Petrov did it last yr. Then it was the guy in the back who had to find a way around, and now Massa was just supposed to move over?
C'mon now...
