Hey Jarez,

No, its a 2.7L E class Boxster....8 seconds off?? yes...first time Sebring driver...

That car holds the E class record at LRP, so they are very capable of podium finishes in the E class.

Hey Doug,

Oh man, would love to but we are on our way to the HSR Sebring Endurance Challenge till Sunday...

Trying to beat my personal best lap time with my RSR down there..we are running a few 996 Cup cars and a fresh Boxster build to set it up for the LRP club race...

I will give you a call later today..

Here's a shot from the Club Race a few weeks ago, I guess the start of the evening Enduro. Ricky, you're door to door with King Leh and the DP.
May I suggest a sequential box for your car?

Is this the yellow car back in action. It would be nice to see it back on the road again given that it has some grand-am history behind it.

Running costs for a boxster:

Entry Fee (sprint + enduro) $500
Gas (1 tank per day): $150
Gas (towing - 30 cents per mile): Between 150-600
Tires (one set every 2-3 events): 400-600
Brake pads/rotors: 250
Hotel: 350
Food: 150
Other various consumables: 150

So, figure about 2400 for an average race weekend. Of that, about 1000 is spent on the car (gas, tires, brake pads, rotors, other consumables)

Hey Phil,

No, not the yellow car yet...it's another F class Boxster S that was completed last week. It's first PCA race will be LRP with a pretty good driver...

The Koni car is coming along well...It will see Koni action again, maybe at NJMP or LRP..

Ok so how much track time. I use to pay around $1k to drag race for a weekend and only be in the car for less then a minute all weekend (3 days).

how often are you changing brake pads and rotors?

The other thing i would like to know is how often are you rebuilding or replacing the engines and or trannys. I use to have to rebuild the motor every season ($2500) fresh the tranny and converter ($500).

Thanks, cant wait to race one of these things.

Drag racing is worse than autocrossing, I never realized that. And you tear through equipment like mad. Road racing is a comparative bargain, except it never goes according to plan.

yeah well at the time i also had a sponsor who was footing 90% of my bills. I always wanted to road race but i never thought it was possible. Then i bought a kart and raced that. Now karting is great but i was spending mad money karting as well, i was like i might as well get in a car and do what i want. But then the DJI took a crapper but i will be out soon, for now i am just DEing the crap out of my 08 Audi 2.0t with a 6 spd and i also race on line a lot.

My friends are trying to get me back on the drag strip, but i want to start my road racing career.

I will say that when i was at a race i did have some bad tastes in my mouth from people i was trying to talk to, i told them i did not have a car and had some questions and they were not the friendliest people, but i know every sport has that. The only reason i bring that up is that the people you are with at the track make racing that much better.

thanks to all for your help

good luck with your race Rick.

Fortunately, no engine or tranny rebuild yet. Front pads are about every 5-6 days (depends on tracks visited). Rotors are about every 6-8 days (cross-drilled rotors crack easily)

Track time is approximately 80-100 minutes per day.
