That's only in the middle of the state.

I agree with what Larry said way earlier on (didnt read through 10 pages). All of the pro racers I talked to (and got whooped by) said the PCA CR is a joke. Those that I have talked to when doing the PCA CR say DE is generally a joke...or just to mess around in and not be "serious". I think thats pretty accurate. I wont lie, the GA series competition makes the CR competition look like a joke and wouldnt think twice about entering any CR in something marginally capable...however, I would really have to do my research and think about running a GA race...and FWIW, the costs are NOT very different once you get up to a certain "grade" of car (like a j (and SOME i) stock whatever and above...a koni seat can be had for 15k (and there are cheaper, but that will get you a winning car...)

I did not read the entire thread but the reasonable answer to this question is that some people are just A-holes and feel the need to critisize evrything to make them feel better.
my opinion is that DE is a great middle road between Auto X and road racing. I personally can not go and spend 8 hours at a track for 3 minutes of track time. I do feel that you should do auto x before ever getting on a road course to do a DE, and I feel you should do DE before going to a racing school. I do know DE drivers that are hands down better than most club racers that I know, they just have no desire to race.

Coming tomorrow Dan? It will be my 1st time in a kart and i'm going to use Fred as a bellweather so if I were you I would wear a good rib protector... Oh, BTW Sean weighs about 60LBs so good luck on that pass!

Geez,
Most of you guys here sound like little old Ferrari Owners. Does everything you do have to be harder than the other guy. It sounds like mommy didn't give you enough love.
So a guy gets his rocks off doing a DE. The real fast guys don't say anything. Racers want people to drive within their limits, and if DE is their limit then more power to them as they will not be a hazard in a race.
If they want to DE a Carrera GT fine, If they want to race a Miata, great, 924, terrific. JUST SHUT UP AND DO IT! You guys sound like Lamborghini owners who need Viagra. You do not have to convince me what you do on the track is hard. I have real respect for guys who race.
The time you thump your chest could be better spent working on your cornering and braking.

However it is a bit surprising that all the "Pros" who show up in February at the 48 Hours to practice for their March get together don't totally dominate the CR Cup racers...

Arnie, You already know the answer to this, so I'm amused that you're even posting this, especially here.
There are guys here who thump their chests and feel superior here because they feel they need to. Hell, some of them don't even race...
Run whatever you want to and tell them to kiss your ****... I just ignore "those" guys until I see them at the track. Generally it's the text, the beer in their hand, or the comfort of someone's home that makes them feel the need to dictate their views to the rest of us. Live your life and be happy!
Tell your wife I said hi and I still have my "spiffy fedora", as she put it last year at VIR! I hope to see you guys again at the track soon!
Mike

"So getting back to the original discussion, which was why run brand spankin new Hoosiers at a DE? If you are so keen on keeping your GT3 pristine and dont want to risk damaging it, why buy Hoosier A6s? Not saying you, but in general. No one has answered yet, WHY, brand new sticker Hoosiers are needed at a DE."
What about trying to do your personal best, if new tries let someone do that, great. When someone ask about tires, answer the question to help them out, don't tell they are not good enough to run R-compound tires.
As I said, I use to race and loved it, now I only do DE's and love that. Each time I go out I always try and do better than I have ever done before. It is not racing, but can be very challenging and a lot of fun.
