I'll say it is relevant, even if only peripherally.
Much discussion about Sir Lewis' lack of on track performance. Part of it is perhaps lack of concentration on his 'day job'.
Wishing to become a fashion designer, and performing as his own model must surely occupy some of his focus.
However out of focus that part seems....
Joking about weird fashion choices, including Danica's one sleeved dress, are out of bounds now because someone doesn't like it and obviously complained?
We talk about what drivers do on and off the track. F1 is "the show" and the politics, drama and even the fashion, are all fair game for discussion.
If someone were making racist or even homophobic comments than sure I would understand. I think some people need to understand that not liking a topic does not make it offensive.
That's interesting - 60% of the drivers have contracts expiring this year. I think 2204 is the last year for Ricciardo and Sargent so their seats are completely up for grabs.

Might be the most ignorant post in this thread. Yeah professional athletes couldn’t possibly be into anything else other than their “profession” to do well, be the best and to stay focused.
guys let’s stick to the sport not the appearance. thanks.

Bingo!
If I am allowed to have an opinion on F1 drivers driving, or his contract, or his car, or his team, I am allowed to have an opinion on his fashion choices too. It's on topic as he is an F1 driver and wears this stuff to the track. Who cares if @Rig.Stunts can't handle critiques of Hamilton's fashion choices....I don't....you shouldn't.
Perhaps this speaks more to the DTS crowd of newbie F1 fans, but F1 has long been a blend of sport, politics, and soap opera both on and off track. Each segment effects the other. We also discuss pre-race interviews and broadcasts - nothing is off the table. We had a long convo on the Red Bull affairs. No one had an issue with it. We discuss financial ramifications of moves, sponsors, driver salaries and catering budgets. Nothing is off the table.
Several drivers are into fashion including HAM, Gasley and others. Luizzi, a former driver, has an entire fashion line. It’s certainly up for debate/discussion - by very definition fashion is exactly that.
Further, when a driver interjects his personal biases, opinions or political views into a sport, or shames others to go along with him, is it not open to discussion?
Finally, the F1 thread in RL has been a place of good natured ribbing as well as passionate disagreement. When a Jimmy come lately enters and immediately complains because of a fashion statement, you’re just plain soft. There is no room for you here. Either roll with it or scroll past the F1 thread.
comment on the garb, not the human then. no need to denigrate while showing fashion ignorance too.
I didn't comment on the garb or the human. I just posted a photo of some of his fashion choices. I will comment on the garb later in this post. Now, you say I am showing fashion ignorance. Who the heck are you to make that determination? Just because some strange people out there like Hamilton's fashion choices does not make them more enlightened than I am. It just means they have different taste than I do. I would bet big money my taste is shared by a much greater percentage of the male population than Hamilton's. I find many of Hamilton's fashion choices comical. For example:
Those outfits are comical. But, he can wear what he wants. More power to you if like his choices. You can wear skirts if you want. But don't tell me what I have to like or that I am ignorant for not liking his choices. That's B.S.
maybe this is you projecting? you’re not the boss of RL or this thread. you have no standing to tell anybody how or where they can interact.
You are correct that I’m not a mod here on RL, I would never want to be a mod here as it’s a difficult job. Further, there’s already a mod within his thread that’s a regular and this place has self policing that has been just fine. All that said, it’s my opinion, and more appropriately, my advise on how to interact on this particular thread. This is directed specifically to someone who clearly raised their hand and went to the teacher when in actuality, rereading what was said, had no offensive language written or implied.
The F1 threads here in RL have been going on for longer than any of us have been here and although we don’t always agree, we pretty much all get along and have a commonality developed over several decades of following the sport.
Now I ask you, what is your opinion, and please be perfectly honest, of this outfit? It’s from the spectacular 2021 season that was incredibly competitive and controversial . Who wore it better?
