Anything is possible. As an aside, Newey is not a direct employee of RBR and as such, his salary does not fall under the scope of the salary cap restrictions much like driver's salaries, so in essence, he could name his price from anyone and it would not hurt them, given they have the resources.

But Newey is under contract for the next couple of years so he just go anywhere he wants. There would have to be some financial compensation to RedBull and gardening leave involved.

We don’t know the circumstances of his contract with RB, and it could easily contain a ‘get out of jail free’ clause due to something like the bloody ridiculous ****show of Horner; Jos; Marko, etc.

Newey’s current contract allegedly worth 10 million GBP/year, so it’s not money that’s the ‘driver’ here, rather the BS that the team may be experiencing 2/2 ‘Hornergate’.

Well it’s a done deal according to The Beeb:

I wonder how much Mr. Stroll will offer him. $50M? $100M. Plus he would get to build a car for Alonso to win a WDC at 44 years old.

Newey and Sainz to AM to replace Baby Stroll = Epic.

Can you imagine Alonso and Sainz racing a car that Newey built?
If Daddy Stroll wants to win, that is the formula. He might even learn Spanish!

Mr. Stroll should buy an IndyCar team for Lance. I think he would do well there.

That's exactly how it appears according to this report out of Italy. Enzo would have approved.

FormulaPassion.it has received confirmation from reliable sources that Ferrari and Adrian Newey have been engaged in lengthy discussions, exploring potential contractual terms and arrangements for an early departure from Red Bull, including gardening leave.
Negotiations are progressing well, with cautious optimism for a favorable outcome.
Reports suggest that Newey's relationship with Red Bull has soured over time, with rumors indicating his decreasing fondness for the team.
In the past, Newey has declined offers to relocate to Maranello, opting to remain in England. However, now at the age of 65, joining Ferrari would mark the pinnacle of his remarkable Formula 1 career, which has seen him secure 12 constructors' titles with Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull, as well as 13 drivers' titles with various legends of the sport.
Ferrari is reportedly considering enticing Newey with a role as a technical supervisor or super consultant, granting him the freedom to unleash his creativity.
This offer would rival those from Aston Martin and Mercedes, who may leverage the proximity of their English factories.
Additionally, Ferrari is prepared to offer Newey a salary comparable to that of a top driver, potentially exceeding his current earnings at Red Bull, which are around $10 million annually.
As it stands, Ferrari appears to be the frontrunner in securing Newey's services, barring any unexpected developments.

Technically if he does leave RB , with the gardening leave stipulation he wouldn't be able to work for another F1 team until 2027 ...
Although we all know that nothing is definative in the Formula One world, obviously RB is starting to fall apart and with Ford being their motorist in 2026 , it surely gives
him good reasons to leave !
I'm sure he would rather end his career working with a prestigious team like Ferrari rather than endure the inside turmoil at RB and having to work with an unproven Ford engine !
Should he announce that he is leaving at the end of 2025 , it will certainly make things interesting within the imploding RB team ...

Cheers
Phil

Maybe I'm just a fanboy but I don't see any evidence of RB imploding. All of this stuff with Horner/Jos is just a temporary nuisance and will be forgotten about. I'll believe Newey is leaving when HE announces it. It was only a few weeks ago that the press had said with certainty that Horner would be sacked before Australia. The press is out of control as usual.

Except for the fanboy part, I was going to post almost exactly the same thing.

The press salivates that the scandal was the cause. I disagree.

While it may have been the tipping point, Newey is a brilliant man, always in search of a new challenge.

His previous efforts to leave RBR were saved by a new project, a new challenge, some even outside F1.

I think he thinks he has done all he can there, and it’s time for a new challenge.

And, there is NO more seductive challenge than returning glory to Maranello and making the church bells ring more often!
