Wow...sorry to see such a loss but glad you and your loved ones are safe. Makes you wonder about what else in ones garage could cause someone to suffer a similar fate. Will check my garage now.

Otherwise I think you'll be hard pressed to find a diesel soon in the US at least new for sale from VW, Audi, Porsche as it looks like they are definitely pulling the plug on them..

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words....it's ironic, the Cayenne Diesel had been such a source of uneasiness for the past year+ and it's gone now. But it was the glass blowing out of the car and the tires bursting that woke us....the house was half on fire at that point...not sure what would have happened if we had slept another 15 minutes before the alarms went off. Especially with the college kids' bedrooms right next to the garage. Issues like the Cayenne Diesel don't mean much anymore. I wish you all well with your vehicles.

SignDoc - so sorry for the loss but like others have stated glad you and your family are ok. It's a good reminder message for us all about the oily rags. I appreciate your willingness to share your story.

On a lighter note - I submitted my notarized papers and within 20 min had (have) an appointment on July 7 with the local dealer.

I submitted my notarized docs yesterday and had an approval in about 10 minutes; made an appt for July 7th to get my inspection done.
Coincidentally I was in for service yesterday morning getting my oil changed, and the SA said nobody from PCNA has talked to them about inspections, so I am assuming people are flying in to do it at the dealership, outside of the service department. Apologies if that was noted earlier, I haven't kept up daily on this thread lately due to work travel

Same. I have a July 10th "verification" appointment and emailed my service advisor to see if we really needed to come in to verify ownership since they know us and were just in. They said no one had talked to them about it and it was being handled all by outside people.

Pretty sure I followed this correctly, but we only get half the $ after the appointment, right? Then the second half is after the "fix" date if that gets approved?

we have about 2500 miles until the 40k service is due. I'm going to wait until then for my appointment to save a trip.

Just submitted the documentation yesterday, got approved that day as well. Have a July 5 appt, my understanding is that new catalytic converter and a firmware upgrade, no mention of loss of mileage or power yet. I 'm assuming I'm getting all the money. Should be half of it sent direct deposit to my checking acct and the second half I should get after the fix.

Also I heard that the Bosch $1500 settlement, we may only get part of that. Not sure why we don't get the whole amount. Anyone else know anything about that?

Okay, that's what I was hearing too. Half after the confirmation appt, half after the fix, if approved.

Earlier in the thread people were saying they received the full $1500 on this. Bosch it seems is sending out checks in a rolling basis after the confirmation appointment is done.

Is your appointment for owner verification or the fix?
