Dealer told me that the noise is normal. And told me to go to Galpin ford (which is 1.5 hours away) if I want a second opinion. I'm amazed how incompetent these people are. This is what he says "I'm referring you to a specialist...when you go see a doctor, he can refer you to a neurologist." I asked him if he can ask for a Ford engineer to come out and take a look. He told me to go to Galpin and let them ask for one.

Anyway, my buddy recorded a video of the noise. He'll post it in youtube for me tonight. It seems like the noise is coming from the catalytic converter.

There is nothing normal about a high pitch buzzing sound at 4,500 rpm. I would get in touch with Ford Performance/Ford Racing and send them this video - I don't think the service departments are trained for this car yet.

 

There is no customer support for Ford Performance or Ford Racing. It's the same customer support number. They are even more useless than the dealer. "Unfortunately, I can't diagnose the car over the phone." Seriously??? There is no one to send the video to. I'm taking it to one last dealer. If that doesn't work, I'm going to call my blood sucking lawyer.

 

That buzz is not normal... there is something under there that is definitely reverbating. Bring to another dealer and maybe they even have another GT350 to compare to. I'd call around and inquire to see if they have one in stock inventory or one present to also test & compare. There should be no buzz like that... sounds like angry wasp all juiced up!

Your cat's may have disintegrated internally.. It's hard for me to tell by the video (My laptop speakers suck!).. but if you start hearing "marbles in a can", then it's definitely your cats.

I'm not 100% sure if it's confirmed to be accurate yet but I saw someone state the new base GT350 price is $57,995....

 

Now all we need are dealers selling at MSRP.

 

 

I was just offered an allocation for a 2017 that has to be ordered by this Tuesday for 3k over MSRP.
Won't know what MSRP is until later this week unless someone here knows. I'm guessing MSRP of 55k with convenience package adding 4 k to it. Considering it ... would rather have an R.

It clearly is a vibrational noise. I don't think it is internal to the motor. Doesn't sound that way to me.

Have you had it up on lift to isolate where the noise is coming from?

 

Passing 991 GT3s with a stock Boss Laguna Seca is pretty impressive assuming equal drivers. The Boss is a generation behind the 991 GT3 and the 991GT3 is a faster car. Period. The Boss Laguna Seca is on par with the 997 GT3, 997 Carrera S/GTS, 2010/12 M3, C6, CTSV and R8 (non V10), 1 LE and ZL1* (*on the right track with shorter straights and more turns) etc...

For its generation the Boss was an impressive piece and a high water mark for the S197 Mustang generation and still is a very capable track tool and still desirable especially in LS trim due to very limited production. The GT350 is the new generation and a step beyond performance wise, however, the Boss if driven well will not be embarrassed by the GT350 that's for sure. It still comes down to whose a$$ is in the drivers seat with the two.

991 GT3s are a little easier to pick off in my Boss 302S Trans Am car (*Thor"). See min 1.25.
