mikymu...that kind of stuff really angers me...it's a DE for crying out loud...nothing to prove just go have fun running a car...more and more people think DE is a race of some sort and run too close and take too many risks.

Looks like the Corvette driver (over)reacted to the yellow flags, while the Miata driver did not either see the flags, or did not react to them at all.
I really say it's the Miata's fault no matter what. He should not had been following so close...just like on the street...no matter what you rear end someone it's your fault.

You hear guys at Porsche Club togethers talking about the last DE they were at like they were at a race. They seem to equate the two. I raced SRF and Spec Miata for several years in the SCCA, and did one DE in my GT3 at Road America and sure as hell didn't treat the DE like a race. If there was any question I'd just slow down a little. No way I wanted to screw up in the kink in the GT3!!!

One time my son was in a Spec Miata during a race at Road America (and he was prettty fast and pretty agressive) and some idiot in a Mustang passed him out of the carousel and then promptly braked for the kink, a "corner" the Miata can take flat and needs to get a good lap. My son was lucky he didn't crash- my son confronted him in the paddock and the guy had NO clue...

As for rear ending is always your fault- one time towing to Road America in heavy traffic in Madison, we were leaving room in front of us and a car swerves in front of us and promptly slams on his brakes. We then couldn't stop in time (obviously as we were towing) and hit his back bumper. Luckily no major damage and the guy we hit didn't seem to mind and we all went on. If there had been damage, how could we be at fault as he took our "cushion" away???

I thought the Vette driver slowed down to pick up his gold chain and pinky ring he dropped earlier.

hard to tell for for but it looked liked the guy in the tower might have been late with the yellow if the vett driver would have saw it earlier he probably would not have gone by the legend or what ever that was. We know those Miata drivers do not give up those apexes for anything.

Yellow flag or not, the Vette guy shouldn't nail his brakes like that. It's just ridiculous. As much as it pains me, it is the Miata's fault, but the Vette guy should have been a lot more aware of what was going on around him. He didn't do the Miata guy any favors at all.

Turns out it was a race not a DE, corvette was braking for a yellow flag in T11 for the white gt40 that could not be seen in the video, corvette did not want to pass the legend under yellow which is what I thought in the first place, didn't look like a DE to me. I would call it just racing as that Miata would have taken that corner flat no matter how close he was to the vett. Just glad nobody was hurt and damage was small. The ST2 corvette did have have a brand wrap which sucks for him.

Yup, that's racing. Go this 4:20 mark in the video below and you can see why you need to be careful with miata. They are so focus in taking turns flat out and often miss approaching fast car. I treat them like land mines on the track - keep distance and be alert
