Competition moves the world forward.
Different strokes man. LOTS of guys will still go spend $50-100k more on a slower Porsche model when the Z comes out.

With that said, I can't wait to see the Z. I can already imagine one in my garage.

The lazy rev sound of the corvette has always been a turnoff for me. But the shorter ratio DCT really seems to improve the exhaust note/rev character of the engine.

After watching the Willow Springs video, I am really looking forward to the C8Z. It will be a beast.

Agree. I'm most excited about the Zora model. 1000hp AWD.

The description of the new GrandSport also seems interesting.

Think this is a great take on the C8. "Know what it is, and what it isn't." Make sure to listen to the end. Owner's on Rennlist too

I think it was a fair review, but I disagree on the fit and finish, at least in my car. It’s funny though, because I do have an issue with the tranny. My C8 is an 3LT Z51. It has 1900 miles. I bought it as a weekend.track car. I also have a 2018 Boxster GTS which I have tracked quite a bit. As I said in an earlier post, the C8 rides and corners better than the 718. It’s got great steering and just feels so much more planted and confidence inspiring than the Boxster. Definitely drives more like a GT car than a true sports car. More like a 911 than a 718. I know the 718 was knocked for its sound, but I always liked it, and I actually like it more than the Corvette. It’s louder and more interesting with its crackles and pops. The interior is great, and there are no panel issues that I have noticed, but I haven’t inspected it with a magnifying glass either. Overall it feels more solid than my Porsche. Now about the tranny. It upshifts great and is predictive and smooth. My issue is in low speed downshifts, like coming to a rolling stop from 40-50 it is very jerky, and there is too much engine braking. Yet, if I even have a small amount of throttle input when slowing its smooth. In spirited driving there is no issue, but in stop and go city type traffic it’s just not as smooth as it should be on downshifts. The other think I don’t care for, is the throttle range is too long and heavy, especially compared to the Porsche. You really need to put your foot into it to get the big payoff. Not necessarily bad, but not my preference, so I need to adjust to it. Overall, still very, very satisfied with it. Goes from a luxurious touring car to a great track car.

Zoe: the low speed downshifts that you find to be “jerky”. What mode are you in; Touring versus a Sport mode?

‘good point, its there in both but worse in sport. It seems like it shifts at the wrong time when your coasting and doesn’t rev match if your off the throttle. It could be because I’ve been driving pretty aggressively, and the shifting program adjusts to your driving style.

Saw one for the first time in the flesh yesterday, much better looking in person than in photos. I like it.

Is it not the same ZF transmission that's in the Porsche 911 PDK, I may be mistaken, but I believe the Chevy boys just tuned it different. Read this a long time ago when they were designing it and getting old but believe that to be the case. Any way you look at it, it's a lot of car for the money, especially with COVID, and the limited run the 2020s are going to hold their value pretty well. 2021's are not going to be much different except for a couple of options. Put a grand down at Kerbecks to save a spot.

No, it’s a Tremec DCT in the Corvette. Both the 7 and 8 speed units used by Porsche in the 911/718 are exclusive to Porsche to the best of my knowledge.
