Can you post a link to the Canadian configurator?

I can’t find it online for the life of me, but maybe that’s because I’m in Europe with an out of country IP?

Edit, realized you meant 911 GTS. The mid engine trans and rear engine trans are completely different.
Hmm so what’s the torque limit for PDK?

Don't think it will come into play with 4.0L NA (so far best is 346 ft-lbs with GT3 RS and Speedster)

This new engine has to be going in more models than the GT4 and Spyder, to spread the r&d cost over more units. There is now plenty of room between $80k GTS and $99k GT4.

You're right that it is it is still a lot of money and 40k in mods to get a mild tune, new gears for torque and shorter ratio, and fix the exhaust situation would still come up much cheaper.
Sorry, I meant those are the only must have options for me. The rest would be unnecessary. So people can get away with a very nice GT4 for 110k or so.

I think the gearing discussion is overrated. Shorter gearing would be funner for street, but honestly I don’t drive like that on the road anyways.

At VIR? I’ve cooked it hit at the end of the front straight. That curb is very mellow. He must been much faster then 10mph.

I believe it is 750nm (553ft/lb.) for the 7 speed PDK in the GT2RS.

The torque curve is flat from 2500-4500rpm, so I'm guessing they electronically limit it just like the new 718 GT4 manual trans.

I've heard rumors that the GT2RS was able to go past the limit of the 7 speed PDK, but Porsche held it back...similar to the torque limiting on the McLaren 720S due to strength concerns with the Aisin unit.

Yes, but GT4 won't use the same version of PDK...

Yes, it's very common to have a flat torque plateau in a turbo motor (strict control of boost pressure) - it's just weird in an NA motor...

Got curious and did some digging. Looks like the two versions of the 7 speed PDK are 7DT-45 is 500Nm (369ft/lb.) and the 7DT-70 is 780Nm (575ft/lb.). There is also the 7DT-75 used in the Panamera, but same rating as the -70.

I've followed this thread off & on, however last evening was the best! The humour members expressed was an all out blast : )
I particularly liked the 4.0 Dodge Caravan photo! LOL

GrantG you mentioned this new motor likely has a lot more room on the table then the 9A1 motor of the GT4.
AP from Porsche said they stuck with that motor in the new 718 CS cars b/c it's such a reliable engine & has a proven record. I'm not certain, doesn't the 718 CS have very comparable #'s to the new 718 GT4?

Porsche's new 718 CS with the "old motor" must make 981 owners happy.

This summer I'm plunking on the DMS intake runners, IPD/GT3 TB further adding to the awesomeness of the 981

Yes, the 981 CS and 718 GT4 have similar numbers. However, the 981 CS is relatively uncorked and the 718 GT4 is clearly being held back.

Which means if you are Ok doing mods you start with more HP and have more potential for gains......

If I would have had a deposit down I would have asked for it back. Heavier , same torque , same 0-60 , same gearing , better aero. I'll keep my CR GT4 thank you. The back Porsche emblem is hideous.

I agree that the upgrade proposition is not that compelling, except for the opportunity for another Euro Delivery trip and fresh warranty.
