718 GT4?

The Spyder spy shot and this GT4 shot look like they have similar exhaust/diffuser.
I know there was quite a bit of discussion in the spyder thread that it looked similar to a turbo car exhaust...I wonder if what we see here is in fact a turbo car.

AFAIK both engines, T & NA, have been evaluated. This could be part of the exhaust outlet redesign. Maybe one was easier to redesign/modify than the other.
Regardless its interesting to note that the OP was asked to take it down whereas on a German forum, PFF, with a Porsche presence, no comment was made of such a request.

1) The first Gt4 had its own body in white. They could definitely do that for the second to fit a new engine
2) the first gt4 had a hand me down regular 911 engine
3) The 991.2 gt3 engine is special to that car. I’m sure they want to keep it that way. Why would they want to cannibalize their own sales?
4) GT4 is a “parts bin†car. So the exhaust pictured has only been used on turbo cars - the gt3 still uses the center exit design. It logically makes sense if you’re using he new 991.2 turbo then you would use the same exhaust.
I think now the possibilities are in this order:
1) Turbo 6 tuned between C2 and C2S spec
2) Turbo 4
3) GT3 detuned (unlikely)
No cleaning lady for me - this is my prediction based on the spyder and gt4 pics.

I think it probably is. A lot of people are hung up on this whole €œthe turbo six wont fit in the cayman € thing that was stated at some point. People forget a few key data points:

2) the first gt4 had a hand me down regular 911 engine
3) The 991.2 gt3 engine is special to that car. I €™m sure they want to keep it that way. Why would they want to cannibalize their own sales?

With that assumption I'd guess power is 405 hp 355 lb/ft torque.

Oh and the cloud of the morning got to me. Disregard my exhaust comment. It would have to be different I think because the obvious engine mounting position in the 911 vs the Cayman. I still think it’s the carrera engine.

Everybody seems to be forgetting that homologation would require the same engine in the GT4CS as in the street version. Those with PMNA contacts (members posted on RL) seem to be pretty sure (have been told) that a detuned 4.0 NA from the GT3 will be in that one for the 2019 season.
Who knows? Ignored? Not seen yet? Etc.

The GT3 engine is special to the GT dept. The GT4 comes from the GT dept. From economies of scale, it would make sense to reuse a detuned 4.0 flat-6 particularly since AP has already said that motor was modular.
Except for the custom wing, wheels, and (for the first gen) completely new rear suspension...

This crap about "please take it down", is a load of BS. The car has street plates on it... The real protos do not get parked outside for every tom, dick and jane walking by to whip out their phone and take a picture.
Again, this is all fake news anyways... Someone will figure it out soon. This is nothing but a standard 718 with a bunch of test parts on it.

The near rear design of the 718 looks bad on its own, but it really looks bad when you add a wing to it.

The back end of car in photo definitely looks 718, neutered, & very lame. Front aero nothing special for improvements. If a 4.0L NA in car, that will be the highlight. I'm keeping my GT4 b/c it already is something special.
When the overwhelming majority of auto journalists have raved about 981 GT4 along with Evo car of the year 2015, & people continue to refer to GT4 as parts bin GT car , they should watch this PCA video done by someone who knows a thing or two about P cars. S. Merali quote
