718 GT4?

How many people? They can't really make it much cheaper than the GT4/Spyder to begin with as it would have to be considerably more expensive than a 4-banger GTS is now and it has considerably worse emissions on paper which also matters.
Just because Porsche made the GT3 Touring package doesn't mean that philosophy suddenly extends to all their sportscars. There were very specific reasons for the Touring - crazy 911R speculation and a backlash over the way the "last" manual NA cars were allocated. So they cancelled the PDK only thing and drove a stake into the worst of the speculation. Everybody happy. The mid engine GT cars are already manual and the tiny part of the market that would take a slightly softer more modest looking 718 instead of a GT4 or Spyder at nearly the same price just isn't there. It's not like they have ever had trouble selling our the production capacity of whatever GT car they make anyway.

From two independent sources, they told me +/- 6 months once delivery starts, I hope they are right....I'm going to bump my allocation down a couple of spots to see if it really happens.
Guess that would be a $5-7k extra for the PDK????
In the meantime, will keep enjoying my 981 GT4...no rush on buying the 718 GT4....

As for being saddled with the Auto Start/Stop feature, for about two Benjamins you can buy a little module that plugs between connectors in the console and retains the button settings until you push them again. No splicing -- pop a panel off the lower console, open it up, unplug the connector, plug the module in between the two parts of the connector, put it back together and never push a button again unless you want to make a change.
My 2015 Carrera GTS had ***, but thankfully it was set-and-forget from the factory. It stayed off unless you foolishly pushed the button to turn it back on. This module will do that, only with all buttons in the lower console. So even on 981, if you always push the binoculars and the sport button, now you don't have to. I'd link it, only I'm extremely lazy.
EDIT: Had a rare burst of energy and looked up my old online receipts from last year:

I believe 981 gt4 has the both the fully adjustable suspension and mono ball directly from the gt3. The 981 spyder did not. This time both of them have the same front gt3 derived suspension but a fully bespoke rear suspension. From my understanding, this is EXACTLY the same as the 981 gt4.
"Pros:
1. Auto blip on and off button
2. Fully adjustable toe and camber front and rear
3. A mono ball added to suspension
4. More downforce
5. Revs to 8,000
6. Slight horsepower bump
7. More displacement"

I tried to figure out the German text, but it was not very productive.

So what is the difference between the GT3/RS and GT4 engine cases? A GT3 case is just a 9A1 case, right? Same as in a base 981 boxster, right? And a GT4 case is apparently just a 9A2 case, right? Just like in a base 911, right?
I am no expert, but am tearing down an old air cooled engine and have been doing a lot of research and while there are differences in the cases, especially early on, aluminium v. mag and some evolutionary stuff as engines were developed, the mezger case in the 3.6 aircooled 964 is basically the same case as in a water cooled 4.0 997 GT3RS as far as I can tell. The difference being what’s inside (crank, pistons, rods, oil pump) and what’s bolted on (cylinders, heads, intake, EFI).
If anyone knows what the difference in the 9A1 and 9A2 cases are I would be very appreciative of some input.

It's on the 992 - would be nice if that spread to other models...
