Am I missing something here or am I the only one that thinks Porsche nailed it?
Current GT4 owners (like myself) are happy to not upgrade. Potential new owners (like myself, if I didn’t have a GT4) would be happy to buy one. Given an average agreed upon inflation rate, over the past 4 years, of ~7%, the MSRP increase of ~15% would say the new car is an 8% premium. And it’s definitely 8% more car.
Combine that with AP’s hatred of markups, it’s fully inline with their ethos. Not sure why everyone is so concerned with re-sale. I’m not a rich person by any means, but I also didn’t buy a 95k luxury item banking on resale. I bought it because it was the best value for money for my use case (track) and the last 3 years has validated that for me.

Perhaps in your eyes, Stanford. From my perspective, the 981 GT4 is definitely safer than it could have been given a lot of the realistic potential outcomes that were speculated. I have no doubt that it will be a phenomenal car, but only marginally better in some aspects, and two steps back in other areas. Obviously a lot of those "steps back" are subjective (ie aesthetics), and maybe that's where I surmise fantom's belief bias statement is aimed at, but I don't think the current GT4 owner community at a hole is that unable to pull the blinders off. Unless the the rather underwhelming stats are a gross misrepresentation of the car, I don't see anything significantly attractive over the 981. From what I can tell, the majority of people in our community would agree with that sentiment (including those that were considering one over a 981). I know one thing, I'm happy I with the one I have, and I was one of those guys that was considering holding out for the 718.

No one who can afford a $95k is allowed to claim they are not rich. That's so ridiculous. We are all so far ahead of the normal level of wealth in this country. Jesus. We're rich and it's insulting to people with normal amounts of money to say we aren't.

Read this sentence again.

This is one of the most idiotic posts I've read in over a decade of using forums and Reddit. That should really say something.

Let's be real this GT4 is a facelift of the previous one. Your points on power jumps were from brand new generation to the next brand new generation. Let's compare apples to apples here. If they release another GT4 on the next mid-engined platform then we can see how much the power has gone up. I'm sure it will shock no one. Porsche is pretty predictable if you look at the stats on this stuff.

+1!
For the 981 gen the GT4 seemed like the better deal. This time around with the 718 Spyder getting the full GT4 treatment and being cheaper, I think the Spyder is the big winner. The GT4 might be a sleepier proposition till they release the pdk option... I kinda want a Spyder now....

also the Spyder became a deal all of a sudden
I have to admit ... I was a little blown away I configured my black GT4 spec 108+ to the new configurator and added Chalk ( I didn’t know they were offering that ( not cheap ) and wow I’m at 130k ... I could easily add another 3 options and be at 135k .. that’s amazing
In this state the land of fruit and nuts, the taxes are another 10% + reg fee would be prob 1200+
that doesn’t include gas guzzler etc ( if there is one?)
hummm crazy ...
