Well, to be perfectly frank, in the end using a version of the current Carrera Engines is the most cost-efficient way forward. This engine will probably now be used as a base for the upcoming Turbo and Turbo S 992 Porsches. Again, the GT4 is a parts bin car, and it seems like it always will be. Porsche are seemingly not interested in giving the platform what it truly deserves. Shame that.

Wow drab colors. Looks like the extended fuel tank is included in the base price.

Not sure what color I would go for

Whilst all 981 owners will be biased, having read everything all day and looked at the figures and various features etc, I genuinely think the 981 has ended being the 'better car'.

Same power (power-to-weight is practically identical, and the 981 is in any case a mere set of headers away from 420+).
Same gearing.
Same suspension.
Same torque.
Looks better (particularly the rear).
Will sound better (we have all seen the videos, the 718 is obviously not going to sound as good).
Doesn't have all the nannying emissions stuff (I simply do not want things like cylinder deactivation on a sports/track car).
Is lighter (also thus a better base car for modifying).
More exclusive.
Better value for money (new or used).

What am I missing?

I'd love to say I have a '4.0', but actually it would seem the capacity hike is for all the wrong reasons (sure explains why the racecar hasn't bothered with the 4.0...).

Wow, has the 981 just become the better car??

Who is with me?

The 981 GT4 is a good car, but the 718 GT4 will better. Styling is subjective, but the 718 GT4 looks more aggressive. Performance wise, the 718 is better.

Pretty disappointed that they have clubsport package listed on the brochure page but can’t select it.

123k for me. Now I have to seriously weigh a used gt3 in the 160s.... when I spec mine that’s where it would come out to. I think the extra sparkle from the motor is worth 40k. However the 160 ones seem to be multi owner with 5k+ miles so I’m betting they were driven hard.

Jblaw I'm not sure either....but I clicked on the Porsche code that some people poated. Load it and then change the configuration.

Miami looks good with aurum wheels. Perhaps white looks better with it? I know I've asked it before, but are people going to go with navigation? I only use waze on my phone but I have a google phone. I would still get apple car play in case I get a iPhone or if my wife rides with me.

$40k is still a lot of money... GT4 is usually a second car for most, so $40k can buy a nice tow vehicle. That said, for $110k, a 982 GT4 is still a bad *** car. You don’t need most options: Buckets, Apple car play, leather, etc. I have a bloated 981 build, but the $30k in options doesn’t make it a funner car.

Can’t delete AC or radio? You could on the 981 I thought. Must be the back up camera requirement. Maybe there isn’t much weight gain factoring all the lightweight options on the old car?

The price increase isn’t that bad either when you factor in the first service is included.

wish the coilovers were ride height adjustable to corner balance. Overall they delivered what they always do....just enough. Wish the TVR would get here.
