Did routine service about three weeks ago and was notified that I was due for transmission replacement. It's going in today. Took delivery April 2016.

Anyone know if the 718 gt4 transmission is welded or splined, especially 3rd gear?

Is it safe to assume the same problems won’t plague the new version?
Hopefully they learned from their mistakes.

Cannot see it being an issue as they've identified the problem and have fixed it.

Pretty sure problem was resolved.
Kudos to Porsche for how they went about resolving the gearbox issue with the 981 GT4.

718s probably received all of the recalled then upgraded tranny's from the 981s.

Anyone know the specifics?
Weld vs spline?

I guess we’ll have to wait a few years to assess reliability

A "scam call" contacted me and it was my dealership, the fateful day has arrived. I hope they appreciate that I didn't give into temptation of modding by how stock my car is

Im late to the party here thinking Porsche was never going to recall this issue, but thats how long its been since i check, Only thing is that I took delivery of my car Sept 2016. When I put my VIN in the Porsche website, it doesnt say anything about a recall. So my transmission isn't effected? Or am I looking at the wrong thing? Thanks

I would call my Porsche dealer, they can check for you.

I do not believe there is anything online to verify. You need to talk with your dealer. If your car was delivered in Sept 2016 then its going to be replaced. I believe anything built after Nov 2015 is part of the recall campaign.

If you guys didn't know already, there is a Porsche website to check about recalls, but the transmission recall does not show up.

I had my transmission replaced last week at the dealer. I am noticing an intermittent grind during the shift to second. The dealer said to monitor it but noted its in the break in period and hopefully it will go away. Anyone else experience this?

Yes my old one seemed perfect. I drove it about 50 miles yesterday in traffic, on back roads etc. It still does the grind when going up to second and maybe 20% of the time.
