My understanding is;
- Some / many early build GT4 have a 3rd gear synchro issue.
- Porsche was initially reluctant to address the situation
- Now they will replace ANY GT4's transmission exhibiting this issue
- Replacement is performed @ PCar dealers as required
- Replacement is no cost to current owner even if NOT ORIGINAL Owner?
Please fill in my ignorance blanks, particularly items 3 and 5.
Thank you.

Porsche has handled this in at least a reasonable way, if not admirable way.
Not sure if they're replacing "any" tranny but certainly those within the known-issue window. I believe the dealer will replace regardless of ownership, i.e. first, second, or fifth, and there's no cost to the owners.
Good luck!

Go to your dealer. It's a warranty issue. If they believe your car needs a new transmission, it will be replaced. The service manager mentioned it to me when I brought the car in for an oil change; I didn't even mention anything about the transmission.

My service advisor told me that the transmission replacement could be done at any time, in our out of warranty. I do not believe it is a warranty issue, but rather a technical service issue. Cars after November 2015 build dates are eligible. I had heard there was a later cutoff, but am not sure that is the case, and that even late build cars (e.g. Aug 2016) are eligible.

My bad...I meant it’s an “open recall”, not a warranty issue.
The dealer determines if it needs replacing and will do so.

Had my transmission replaced about two weeks after purchase past February 2019.
Vehicle had 1,879 miles when purchased, and has less than 5,500 miles now.
This being my first MT P-Car, I am curious if anyone else has experienced an occasional very 'long' delay in clutch engagement from 1st to 2nd gear?
This has happen only three times (that I can vividly recall), but does not seem right.
I know how to drive a MT, and was not 'riding' the clutch, etc.
This delay seems to last approx 2-3 seconds max, only happens when high revving (spirited) shift, and at slight upward incline (like highway ramp entry).
Have no idea if this could be possible due to the transmission replacement, or a common GT4-'ism?'
Appreciate any feedback.

Those that did the recall and had 2nd gear grind, how long before the grind goes away? It’s been 500 miles since the replacement tranny and I still get that occasional grind. Doesn’t matter hot or cold. The car never had a grind before with the original. Kinda regret doing it now.

Knowing Porsche chances are they are not going to tell you the root cause of the problem. That's the real world corporate business policy. German electronic gremlins are notorious due to its over-engineered approach to design in the digital domain.
