Leh Keen's GT4 CS lap shows some great braking. A lot of his breaking is in the first part of the corner (not just straights) and demonstrates very fine control of trail braking as he speeds toward the apex.

Seems like a large number of people on this thread are on the west coast. Is there a private HPDE group that books the good tracks? Chin Motorsports does a great job in the Midwest and East coast, but I am having trouble finding something similar in the west. This is the best thread an kudos to Joe for the effort. I found it when I first bought my GT4 and it saved me a lot of the experimentation I have gone through with other track cars.
ortho made good recommendation and if you are with PCA then add golden gate region to your lift.

let us know when you come west.

This is a great site to search for HPDEs...

I like the insurance filter.

NT01 not available for gt4, but andrie has tested them back to back and they are equivalent:

A good place to start looking for track events is www.motorsportreg.com. Also, www.hookedondriving.com (since they don't use www.motorsportreg.com).

Some of my favorite tracks on the west coast include: Sonoma, Thunderhill (3 mile and 5 mile), Oregon Raceway Park (clockwise and
- this one is a blast!), Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch (lots of configurations - I'm going to try the Andretti B 4-mile layout in April with Audi Club SoCal), The Ridge Motorsports Park, Laguna Seca (just because you have to).

I have a chance to pick up Cup 2 tires off of a GT3 with very little wear. The fronts of course are same size but the rears are 305x30x20. Has anyone tried this size on their GT4?

I do not think rear end grip is a problem and that a wider rear will upset the balance and encourage more understeer.

agree 295 cup2 are big enough for a Cayman

bigger adds weight and will not sit on the tarmac level.

I agree 295 are big enough. I was just going to use the 305's for street driving if they will fit. Has anyone tried them?

Keep in mind that the N spec 305s are over an inch (almost 28mm) wider than N spec 295s. They are substantially wider than 10mm. I learned this the hard way trying to run 295s on my GT3.

Thanks, Joe.
I'm glad you brought that up. I just assumed (you know what they say about assuming) the difference was 10mm. 5mm on each side would probably work but 14mm is a different story. I guess the only way I will know for sure is to get one mounted and see. Hopefully someone has tried it and will jump in.

This post shows a 19" ET56 wheel with a 305. 20" ET50 will be a little taller wheel and further in. But look at the clearance to the suspension. For more info you can just type in 305 in the forum search.
