A couple of seconds on a short track like that is significant, plus NT01 tires, plus whatever else Joe might have done to his Spyder.

Just rewatched the Motor Trend video of Pobst's lap at Laguna Seca. Interesting comments about wishing for a fourth hole on the rear sway to make it even stiffer, and also the comment about PCCB being so different from steel brakes. It doesn't sound like he was comparing to the GT4's steel brakes though since he mentioned "other steel braked cars". But given that he called out the immediacy of the bite, I'm wondering if the difference can be chalked up to the more boosted master cylinder and the comparison to stock pads, whereas many with steel brakes would switch to race pads, especially in cars that don't come with stock pads like ours.

I think of it this way:
Pobst did 1:41 in a CaymanR on regular street tires
Subtract 2 seconds if he puts nt01 on a CaymanR and he is down to 1:39
Pobst did 1:37 in a gt4 on cup2 which is equivalent to nt01.
The differential is 2 seconds.

The time difference at Laguna between cars is the smallest I've seen here at our tracks. I'm 6 seconds faster than my spyder in the gt3 at thill, but only 3 seconds faster a Laguna.

Mods to the spyder were less than the GT4. They consisted of lower control arms to dial in front camber, nt01 tires, and a gt3 brake master cylinder to cure the soft pedal. That was it.

I'm totally happy with the feel of the iron brakes on the gt4. I would want to see what pobst would say driving iron and pccb back to back on the same car. You know what my prediction will be.

Where are your biggest gains at Laguna in the 4 vs the Spyder? I might expect 1 second on the front strait alone?

One second is A LOT of time for a single straight. Data will show it all, but I have to work!

Ok, Ian, here is the data. 987 Boxster spyder in RED (1:41) vs GT4 in BLUE (1:39).
Peak speed of the boxster spyder down main straight is 122mph
Peak speed of the GT4 down the main straight is 126mph
4mph difference gives you 0.372 second advantage on the main straight.
The differences between the cars might be even less than 2 seconds since it looks like I screwed up T6 in the spyder

Ok, this is a graph that shows all 4 of my 1:39 laps. You can see where I do certain corners better and lose in others. A 'perfect' theoretical best lap that combines my best sectors comes out to 1:38.4. I'll have to be lucky, on my game, and risk flying off the track to touch 1:37...

Wow. Really inspirational to see these.

At first I thought the right hand movement was a kind of Mozart-like flourish after a shift Then I realize your visor keeps falling...

Lol! I need a new helmet. It's 7 years old at this point. Waiting for all the sa2015 models to come out. Actually, there's got to be a way to tighten the hinge.. Thanks for the reminder!

I've had my SA2015 since January '16...what do you mean?

Yes tighten it STAT or just take it off since you aren't even using it!

You are hauling *** last thing you need is that distraction, as little as it seems might even be worth a 0.1 sec in concentration
