Wonder if the LWB seats will be standard like the last spyder. I'm guessing no.
The new spyder looks great.
Something about the 987 spyder grabs me more though.
The humps seem more prominent in the last spyder, and I loved the stripes.

I'm not liking the the front fascia of the GT3 being given to the Spyder. Doesn't fit the rest of the Spyder styling and it's not GT car like the GT4.

In general I'd say the 981 Spyder is attractive but the 997 was a more pure design.

Although I have long admitted it I was wrong

That out of the way there is much to like about this Spyder and that's great. However, I was worried it was going to be so much cooler than mine I would have to buy it and I just don't feel that way. I love the engine. I have never been totally in love with some of the lines of the 981 ( the creases on the fenders for instance) but I love the side intakes much better and scalloped sides.

But for me the biggest drawback is no PDK. I could see me optioning this to 100k in a blink of the eye and that just puts me in another range of cars.

To those getting this...enjoy!

Noticed the wheels are Spyder specific too!
They are a link back to the original 987.2 Spyder... I wonder how much less they weigh?

I can't figure out how the top works.. When do the rear flaps come out?

Rear tires looks really skinny in profile.. Is that related to their reduced width?

Overall very clean and beautiful.

Guess the ducktail didn't make it. I do like the active spoiler on the 981 though better than 987. So that's a plus.

It's still manual, but easier... This is the steps
1. Push the rear hatch release
2. Open the rear hatch
3. Decouple the roof wings.
4. Unlatch the front window frame latch
5. Fold entire roof in manually (attached and hinged vs. the completely separate roof on the 987.2)
6. Close rear hatch
Done!!!

Saves 20 lbs over the motorized version.

They are bigger than the base/s/gts, but smaller than the GT4... Same as the Carrera S brakes.

It is an active version of the GT4 duck tail spoiler.

Ah. RE: the top I bet it's quieter too fully enclosed.

I am still chuckling that you called it so long ago for 4-1. Good job.

What color are you going to get?

haha I guess your right. You look at so many Porsche standard rear spoilers and they all start to blend in your mind. Well I like that, I wish the deployed by whatever speed you picked....I had a Cayman and it would go up at 70 I think. But my Corrado and 911 would go up at 35...damn the motors who cares!

Not sure yet... I'm a sucker for the Carrara White Metallic... or possibly GT Silver... Hope they have a black wheel option with the silver lip.

What a clever idea!
.
See, now that top is more of what I would expect from a company like Porsche... Manual, but single-piece.

The fabric door handles always crack me up, especially when they point them out on cars with full leather interiors, like in that Bloomberg video.

Good price, too. Before I decided on the 3.8 conversion, I was configuring Boxster S's in the $80-85k range, and this Spyder looks much better to me than those builds ...
