718 GT4?

Good point but we are uncertain whether that applies to US cars as of right now?

Hello,
I’ve had a deposit on the new GT4 for some time now with the Porsche dealer here in Colombia. I told them I was interested in the car but it would depend on the specs of the car since there was no info on it at the time.
Today they contacted me and told me that they now have the “official” specs of the car;
4.0L
N/A
420 HP
6 Cylinder
Manual Gearbox
Apparently no PDK opción either.
They also said they got 2 allocations, and were trying to get more (We don’t get many cars here in Colombia).
Anyways I figured I would share, I’m not 100% sure if I should believe this info, this is coming from the only Porsche dealer here in Colombia.

Previous rumors from people who may have had inside information indicated that PDK would become an option sometime during the model run. Unknown if that's true and will still happen, or perhaps was true but Porsche changed its mind.

Drifting
I’d rather have detuned version of the current compliant 4.0. Likely they would reduce the breathing capacity and lower the redline to keep it in check and not spend much to revise it. These would be easily reversed to get close to or better than GT3 specification (larger TB, revised intake, exhaust, etc.) That motor feels plenty “GT” to me. I know I’m probably dreaming at this point.

If the PDK doesn't become an option later down the line that means Porsche saved me a lot of money. Really anticlimactic though. I've had a deposit down since before this thread was created.

Sorry if my question is confusing, I’ve never had to deal with allocations like this. And the dealer down here is putting a little pressure on me with the whole allocation deal.

Race Car
How does this work regarding allocations? Will Porsche announce PDK as an option with the release of the car, or can they just make it an option further down the line? For example, if I get an allocation at the time the car becomes available, can PDK still not be an option until later on? In that case I would have to hold the allocation until PDK becomes optional?

Unfortunately I'm #4 on the list, supposedly there's 2 confirmed allocations only.
The question was because I would prefer a PDK, but I'm not sure it'll happen before I get a chance at an allocation.

Dealers will get allocations that are tied to a date. When they fill them is up to them. Smaller dealer dates are spread out compared to larger dealers. Therefore it could be that they lose an allocation if not filled in time - fat chance on a car like this.

Burning Brakes
Not sure what you're meaning but you know that redline can't just be raised because you make the car breathe better, right? It means expensive titanium hardware, reducing reciprocating mass, etc. Not saying you couldn't get GT3 hp out of a detuned version with lower redline, but I am saying you couldn't get GT character and sound without spending a ****load of money.
What I'm saying is, assuming they've "detuned" the current 4.0 GT3 motor by restricting it's air intake and exhaust and artificially lowering it's redline the above would be possible.
Meaning they've left the crank, connecting rods, and pistons alone in the bottom end. This would be akin to the performance restrictions used to balance performance in race cars ie putting a restrictor on the intake of x mm so it can only produce y horsepower. They may also dumb down the heads with lesser components in the valve train and less lift/duration of the cams while having smaller and shorter runners. This could also be relatively easily dealt with which is basically what an X51 package is. I'm not saying it would be cheap but it's possible.
