If they only make 650hp from a flat 8 quad turbo they are doing it wrong.

Big question will be...

CAN I GET PTS?!? lol

No but seriously twin turbo v8 or flat 8, then 650 makes sense. Quad turbo, it should make 800hp.

I thought the same. With that much displacement quad turbo seems too complex for 650hp. Under 300K? That's a 100K less than a 997 4.0 RS Cleaning lady said they are building 960 pieces and the VIP program gets first crack. Wait, will the VIP program be done in 2019?

Come on guys- they will milk this platform for many years. And us cows will line up. You actually think they will give you all it can deliver right out of the box?

Agree with comments about the power, price, production volume. The last bit optimistic to say the least, even if the economy holds until then.

So we would have...

GT3 $150k
3 RS $200k
Turbo S $200k
GT2 RS $250k
960 $300k
918 successor (how many more years away...?)

Add up all the volumes and I don't see it, something has to give. 3 RS drops? Don't think the GT2 RS and 960 overlap, but still. A lot of high dollar toys in a very crowded market already.

Why don't they use a development of the 4.6 V8 in the 918?

Motorsport regulations restrict turbo engines to 4.0 L

Guess which capacity has the Ferrari 488?

Porsche already committed the 911 for WEC. It would make more sense to use a 960 platform instead, and I don't see why not, other than the 911 is their go to for GTE. Unless they use 960 for GTE pro and 911 for GTE Am, which is kind of a stretch in thinking on my part. I just don't know what application would they use the 960 in Motorsport.

I think the benefit of quad turbos is that they could be very small (supplying just 2 cyl each) and therefore more responsive with less lag.

Thats what I was thinking too. Kind of analogous to the 4 individual electric motors (1 at each wheel) on the 918
