Eduardo and I don't agree on a lot, but I am with him on this. There were no Huracan mule sightings until the last couple months before it's reveal, and we are just now seeing what looks like the finished R8 circulating the Nurburgring. I'll bet it debuts at a show later this year. So it is still early to see their platform-mate, the 960, in the wild.

Eduardo, you didn't specifically mention Brumos who, as a Porsche dealer, doesn't have the option to switch!

Although only scanty information was given, when Mellsisa Witek (Porsche Exclusive - Personal Design Manager" was asked about the status of the 960 (on 12/16) the response I received was "at this time , its merely a rumor."
For me that's much better than hearing a straight-out NO. Maybe I'm stretching it, but it infers that it's definitely a possibility . We can only hope!

The company is so ultra secretive it's difficult to know one way or the other. My SA will be in Atlanta on Monday and ask Melissa face-to-face. But I probably won't learn anything more.
How long has that car been rumored; since 2011??

Believe that when the decision was made to continue to race with the 911, the 960 was put on the shelf. In 2017 the engine of the 911RSR will be moved further forward and the rumor is that it will be a turbo.

If the 960 goes belly up, the manual GT3 looks like a good alternative. From what I've heard the "R's" are sold out. I'd hate to "jump ship", but even with a 2 year waiting list the 488GTB is looking better all the time.
But I love Porsche so I'll wait at least until the 2016 NYC Auto Show. I'm not familiar with the GTLM spec car. Possibly it'll be what I'm looking for. Time will tell.

GTLM is a race car not road car. It's effectively a 911 GT1 like they used to run back in the 90's.

Nice read, thanks. Makes sense, especially from a racing point of view....
