Agree, but added weight and a lot of complexity. I wonder what is does for cooling requirements, too - four smaller ones more thermally efficient? Regardless, the 488 is getting as close to lag-free as you can get and only has two. VAG is passing down Bugatti tech to Porsche... lol

They're gonna need more than 650 by 2019... 488 already has more than that. And then there's the sound problem...

A Flat-8 is going to sound very good indeed (if the old Flat-8 race cars are any indication). Yes, turbos tend to muffle too much, but it will sound interesting.

With 3.9L and turbocharging, they can far exceed 650hp as needed. My hope is that they use an NA version of this motor in the GT3 that revs beyond 9k rpm (should be able to with small cylinders like this).

Flat8 costs of development and suppliers for the few thousand car sold
would be astronomically higher than re using an Audi
synergy V8 which would increase profits, reliability and future upgrades

not to mention the Huracan and R8 chassis

F488, target of 960, is not so expensive
and we know PAG is first car manufacter for keeping high revenues

The 9A1 modular Flat-6 was built to be Flat-4 (currently used in 718), Flat-6, or Flat-8. Development is already done, afaik...

Flat 8 already developed for 918, just remove the electric drive components and you're there.

Actually, that's a V8, but a 9A1 Flat-8 was part of the road map years ago...

If that is the case, we have the next 928 in template form, but they said it is a mid-engined car. With that shape of the nose in the rendering, it looks like they can stuff a small displacement V8 in the front.

If they really want to fight Ferrari, they should do it starting at $200K.

The top end 911 is that. I bet a 960 would start at $250 but avg out at about $300. My dealer already has a list.

I did not know that. Then $250k to start would be a more realistic figure. Not only would it shift attention away from Ferrari, but even GM's possible ZR1 in the C7 Generation to come.
