I'm not quite sure I understand the problem. If you know the correct pronunciation (it's a surname, for Christ's sake), then why would you mis-pronounce it? It isn't about being pompous or elitist, it's about giving proper respect to its origin. I mean, does anyone pronounce the name as Chevro-lett?

I beg to differ. It has nothing to do with where you're from or what sounds right. It's a surname with a proper pronunciation which reflects its origin. Is there another part of Germany that pronounces the name as "Porsh?" Do you have any linguistic accent that inhibits you from enunciating it correctly? If you simply prefer to pronounce it as "Porsh" despite knowing it's incorrect, then that's your prerogative. I suppose it's also OK for you to pronounce "Zegg-Nah," "Ver-sayce," and Bruno "Magg-lee."
Perhaps when this experiment is all over, I'll work on pronouncing it right!

It's either Porsh or Porsha(uh) with the short uh, as you stated.
I'm simply trying to see what percentage of P-owners pronounce it one way v. the other, as stated before.
