Would it make sense that the way the name is pronouced in the Porsche ads run on TV for their cars in America would be the correct way?
Plenty of ads on youtube, here are two for example.

However, we (us Yanks) are pretty consistent, though there are exceptions, that we pronounce non-English words correctly. Case in point, here in California, we have many cities with Spanish names (go figure) - San Jose, we pronounce the "J" as one would in Spanish, i.e. "Ho". We are pretty damn consistent with Latin-based languages (Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese) pronunciations, so why not with German?

the one I like is the motor museum in the south of England.
the name is Beaulieu which they pronounce Bewley....I've never found any reason why it has a french name (other than the original Barons Montagu of Beaulieu 1885) and why it is pronounced in such a funny way.

But even with the cities in CA there is confusion. San Jose is pronounced correctly, but San Pedro is not. This isnt just limited to CA, another notable mispronounciation is the SC town of Beaufort (pronounced like beautiful). Detroit has a hard T at the end just like all the Saints, and in Saint Louis one vocalizes the S. I think the best is to listen how the locals say it and follow suit. However, there dont seem to be any guidelines.
Very good point. I think we could all agree that regardless the origin of the word/name, people around the world will have their own way of pronouncing the word/name.

That's awesome. Yea I said it porsh one time and got corrected so now I only say it Porsche, the proper way. I mean, it's a registered genius' last name, not a brand name and not a word, so there's only really one correct way to say it...
