I'm sticking with my current plate. Still "T" focused but a bit more specific...

My 911 "T" is a targa, and a 996, so I'm not planning on participating. Just wanted to let you all know that there is quite a lot going on in the Watkins Glen vicinity that weekend; Grand Prix Festival downtown on September 8, Hilliard Vintage Grand Prix at the track that same weekend.

We're going to have to start planning our actual route. And based on these pictures from Bear Mountain, we're going to deviate a bit and likely not end up in the park.
1. Is anyone in the area to check it out?
2. Does anyone have experience planning a group ride?
3. Apps to use: RideWith or Rallista? Anyone use either? I've seen a local group use Ride With, but I haven't used it myself. Seems easy enough to use. You can buy it or use a free week demo.
Edit: oh, and buy walkie talkies if you don't already have them. Adds to the fun

I think we need to move. Bear is still a mess by reports from other car guys in the area.
Hawks Nest/Port Jervis/Greenwood Lake/Warwick all better choices and not much further for the Boston/CT guys.

From post #8, here's a conversation with a car guy who lives in the area. This would be more west, not Bear Mountain:
Quote:"if you want to get some good driving in my best suggestion would be meet in Middletown NY and take the backroads to Pine Island NY, then thru Warwick and 17A over the mountains, through Greenwood Lake NY and onto Sloatsburg where you could pick up 7 Lakes drive up to Bear Mountain or Skyline Drive through the Ringwood NJ area and up thru West Milford NJ. I could recommend several really cool venues in the Pine Island and Warwick area for lunch and beverages if you want.
I'd also be happy to host a photoshoot with adult beverages at my house for you guys....I have alot of rural property, plenty of parking, and would be happy to provide refreshments and a bathroom for everyone. (in Warwick, it's off 17A) 5 miles of great twisty's. We get a least a few car and motorcycle clubs screaming down the road every weekend."
Based on the above, I'm thinking we do the reverse, meet in Sloatsburg then head towards Warwick.
I'll reach out to my friend and see if he's still willing to host that weekend.

ok fellow T-party animals, here's a tentative route I planned with the help of my friend, who graciously offered his large property, garage and man-cave for our photo shoot and pit stop in Warwick.
We have several meeting points if people prefer to meet up along the way. The key will be, what time do we meet at the first stop off of the Palisades Parkway Exit 14? I'm thinking 7 or 8am. @toph4242 what time can you get to the first meeting place since that's the furthest point east of the day?
The route from there is 50 miles long, plus stops. The stops are as follows:
- 1st Meeting Place: Just off the Palisades Pkwy Exit 14 at the North Rockland Soccer fields (actually, there may be soccer games taking place in Sept, which means we may want to meet up the road at Stony Point Justice Court, 6 Patriot Hills Ln, Stony Point, NY 10980, looks really cool on the map)
- 2nd Meeting Place: Tuxedo Park train station (DO NOT SPEED THROUGH TUXEDO!)
- 3rd Meeting Place: Private house on Cascade Rd in Warwick, NY
- 4th Meeting Place: Franico's Pizzeria in Pine Island, NY
NOTE: If Pine Island is too far west, we can make Warwick our turnaround point, which might be better for me personally. We can play that by ear a bit too.
From there, we can either reverse the entire route, or we can split up and those who are going to CT, MA and other points east can head up to I-84 or Rt. 6 and then go east. And those heading to NJ or places south and west can, well, go south and west as needed.
Thoughts?

I'm also willing to meet other's along the way if coming from NYC or over the GWB to the PIP.

Track Day
I'm coming from Nassau, so if anyone wants to meet up, a good meeting place is Exit 46, Holiday Inn. I saw that there's a new PCA member locally with a new 911T, but I have not met him yet.
