Default The 911 T-Party Meet-up - Bear Mountain Run

I'm starting a new thread brought over from the 992 Carrera T Club Thread. We are organizing a T-Party, a meet & greet & drive for 911T owners through the Bear Mountain area of NY, exact location TBD. For now, let's lock down a date. Based on prior conversations, it looked like Sep 9 or 10th, Sat or Sun would work best for most people. Generally, people take these runs in Sunday, which is good and bad. Generally there's less traffic on Sunday mornings, but it might be busier on the twisty roads filled with other car club runs. As always, earlier is better.

Anyway, let's vote here and confirm a date. Perhaps we should target Saturday and use Sunday as a rain date?

Here's the flyer from the other thread.

I voted for Saturday, keeping Sunday as a rain date.

Awesome, Thanks for starting this. I have a big meeting scheduled on September 11th, so I am hoping the rain holds out for our Saturday date. I also voted for the Sunday Rain date, but will likely need to get back on the road by mid afternoon if it ends up being Sunday. Will likely ask for hotel recommendations from anyone in the area of this meet up for Saturday night (weather permitting) so I can enjoy the area and then head back the next morning!

Either way, I am an early riser and will get on the road by 5am... I have a 3hr30min drive (Lets be honest, it will be less in the T). But see everyone by around 8:30am on either Saturday or Sunday... someone have an Iced Coffee waiting for me???

Iced coffee can be arranged. But maybe you should be drinking an iced T! 😁

I voted for Sat with rain date Sunday. However, Sunday there is another event we could piggyback onto or it may pull from our attendance. FYI only but something to consider.

I keep missing those treks! If everyone is a PCA member, and you should be, then why not all do the trek together? It'll be a T-akeover! Lol

But if it's too long of a day, we can do our own thing.

I talked to folks at Bear Mountain Inn (right next to Lot 1) back then to collect some info. They said for 9/9 or 9/10, their best estimate is that Lot 2 may be a good place for a small car club to gather until around 11am before lot starts filling up. Before 9am Free. After 9AM $10.

This is just one suggestion. Others should post anything else gathered and we can agree on meet location as a group. Below are some images and maps.

Entrance to lot 1.

This is a pic of tiny parking lot at the top of hiking path with fantastic views. We could get some epic pics here but unlikely be able to get all out Ts to have space.

Thanks for all this. Just know that the better roads are not actually in Bear Mountain as I understand it. Here are some random conversations I've had with people who know the roads and the area, as well as one local group's map of their recent run:

I've never used it, but others have: Ride With GPA app:

Kanawauke is supposed to be good too:

And here's a conversation with a car guy who lives in the area. This would be more west, not Bear Mountain:

Are you planning a meet and greet or do you actually want to do a good drive in September? The problem is Sunday traffic, even in September after school starts the weekend traffic is bad everywhere.
7 Lakes drive from Sloatsburg up to Bear Mountain is my favorite but on a Sunday afternoon it would be torture with the traffic.

if you want to get some good driving in my best suggestion would be meet in Middletown NY and take the backroads to Pine Island NY, then thru Warwick and 17A over the mountains, through Greenwood Lake NY and onto Sloatsburg where you could pick up 7 Lakes drive up to Bear Mountain or Skyline Drive through the Ringwood NJ area and up thru West Milford NJ.

I could recommend several really cool venues in the Pine Island and Warwick area for lunch and beverages if you want. I'd also be happy to host a photoshoot with adult beverages at my house for you guys....I have alot of rural property, plenty of parking, and would be happy to provide refreshments and a bathroom for everyone. (in Warwick, it's off 17A) 5 miles of great twisty's. We get a least a few car and motorcycle clubs screaming down the road every weekend.
Take a look at some maps and the above and see what you all think.

In general, regardless of which route we take, I'm thinking we should meet in Sloatsburg, NY as early as possible and decide if we're heading towards Bear Mountain or Greenwood Lake. @toph4242 is coming from Boston, plus others from CT and NJ, so that's a key consideration about heading towards Bear Mountain or Greenwood lake.

Good meeting point could be this Dunkin Donuts. Others meet there too. The earlier the better. We can establish secondary meeting points along the way to pick up those who can't get to Sloatsburg very early.

Sloatsburg works too , only reason I mentioned Danbury in other post was because it basically sits on 684 / 84 border and depending on route to bear mountain… 84 west will get us there

Yup. if you and @toph4242 want to meet in CT, and then meet us either in Sloatsburg or even in Bear Mountain should the group decide to go north, instead of NW towards Greenwood Lake, that works too. It all works.
