Ongoing paint correction and prep for ceramic coating.
Lights / lenses front and rear polished.
Grill and side intake slats polished.
"Before" shot. Lots of scratching and haziness. "After" shot. Compound rear quarter contours make polishing properly a little more challenging. Taping things off is not one of my favorite things to do... Rupes Ibrid Nano polisher. Indispensable. Polished grill slats. Just a detail but it makes a nice difference. Lenses and side intake slats polished. I'm glad that part is over with.
I drove to Greece from Turkey cross-border to grab some delicious bakes and some proper gyros and souvlaki. 4000 km far from it's hometown this thing, getting weird looks everywhere since it's RHD. We had an amazing weather today. Thought it could be a good idea to take a photo before approaching the border. We owe some positive feedbacks to the Porsche design team, very few coupe SUVs look decent like that out there.
Washed the driver floormat and scrubbed the driver door sill. There was a shockingly thick layer of salt residue on both areas, from the past 3 weeks of wonderful winter weather.
Deep cleaned and ceramic coated the wheels on my '19 Cayenne.
After a using a good general wheel cleaner, the wheels appeared initially to be very clean.
On closer inspection - it was clear that years of brake dust had bonded to the inner rim - and had to be removed. I tried numerous cleaning agents and even a heavy compound, but nothing worked.
Paint cleaning clay did the trick though. Once clean, they were hand polished, wiped down with Gyeon Prep, and ceramic coated.
If you really care about the appearance of your wheels - it makes good sense to have them ceramic coated when the car is new.
Certainly looks very clean... Paint cleaning clay reveals the truth however. Years of brake dust had bonded with the rims surface. Once the embedded brake dust had been removed, the surfaces were cleaned with P21S Paintwork Cleanser. Miraculous stuff. Ready for the Gyeon Prep. Gyeon Prep removes any polish residue that could interfere with the proper bonding of the ceramic coating. Good stuff! Completed wheel. Fully rehab'ed wheel - ready for the road.
Removed the hybrid and the porsche signs from the car a few days ago. I think I prefer the cleaner look. I will probably change the rear porsche lettering to black also....
Post some pics after please. How are you planing to change the lettering to black? Did you take the other stuff off yourself? How'd that go?
