I'm scheduled for this Friday also, dropping it off in the morning and my service advisor said they'd need to keep it over the weekend.

same as everyone else's: there's a recall, we don't have the parts, just keep driving your car it's fine (....really.... nothing to worry about.... ignore those forums.... )

still haven't heard anything more 5 months later

Default AH08 Done!

Well, I took my 2012 Cayenne S in for the AH08 campaign yesterday morning, and I picked it up this afternoon. The work order notes that they completed the “AH08 Scope 1”. In speaking to the SA, he confirmed that they ONLY replaced the bolts, so maybe Scope 2 is if they determine that they need to more than just the bolts. I assume we’ll get more info on that as more of us complete these recalls and post the paperwork. In the meantime, here’s mine

I wonder how many members are going to be able drop their car off, have the recall work done, and get it back before I get mine back haha...ha...ha...

They installed 46 new screws and two rivets? Is every screw/bolt on the engine one-time-use only? Did they rivet the adjuster in place or did those rivets go elsewhere?

My dealer (Sonnen / Marin Porsche) has the AH08 parts in and and I'm scheduled to drop mine off 3 weeks from now. Its going to take 2 days so they will be supplying a loaner.

Just had mine done too and the receipt says scope 1 too. What was weird in my case is when my wife was leaving, the check engine light was on. So they took it back in and the CEL turns out to be an O2 sensor. It was replaced for free also, and they are claiming its unrelated to the AH08 work. Not sure, but at least its all done!!!

Quite interesting.. what I see there is - what I don't see - there are no replacement Variocam adjusters listed.. meaning they simply replaced the current bolts holding them together with new bolts (hopefully of a superior design.) I wondered if that's what they were going to do... and I'm guessing that's "scope-1" recall action.

And to answer your question - yes - almost every screw on the V8 engines is made of aluminum and considered by Porsche to be one time use - so even a job that just required removing the valve covers involves replacing a lot of screws. The expansion rivets may be the plastic rivets that hold the beauty covers in place, or hold some wiring component to another point on the intake assembly. The "hexoglobular" screws are the special ones that hold the coils to the valve cover and receive the screws holding the beauty covers in place. What I can't see in the posted service receipt is a listing for 8 replacement bolts... which seems rather odd.

I'm guessing it's the 999-067-803-30 Pan Head Screw... as that's the only thing with a p/n that doesn't readily turn up.

I finally have it back! All seems to be well, except the steering wheel is slightly cocked to the right, I suspect from their alignment. Haven't had a chance to open it up yet, as there was quite a bit of traffic on my drive home. They gave me the initial invoice when they dropped it off, and will have the final invoice summarizing all of the work Monday.

Congrats Projekt-h ,... it's been a long road. I'm throwing you positive vibes that it will hold together...

Actually - I thought the same - but a quick Google of that part number turned up the part listing on numerous Porsche on-line-parts websites.. so it's not a new PN. It's also way too cheap ($1.25/each to around $3/each at one or two dealers. List was around $2 and change..)

Mine goes in on Thursday so I'll ask about it when I pick it up unless the mystery has been cleared up before then.

Dealer notified me Friday that the recall for AH08 is complete. The camshaft controllers were not replaced, just the pan-head bolts. I am okay with this. The engine is running great. I will pick it up next week after they take care of a few other items. In the meantime, I thought I would prepare a comparison of the parts between the two campaigns.

If anyone has their controllers replaced under AH08, please upload your parts list. I can then update the comparison.

I did not see where Porsche rolled part numbers from WC-22. The pan-head part number shows up on a dealer's parts portal but it provides no history.

Porsche has rolled the camshaft controller three times. 948-105-051-23 is the latest. Prior versions are 948-105-051-21, 948-105-051-22
