Transfer case
#947
I called my local dealer and my 13 GTS is covered, appointment this Wednesday. Great timing because I was getting ready to replace mine, huge savings with the update from Porsche. Now, I just hope they don't find some reason not to replace it.

I'm wondering if those of us changing the fluid outside of the dealership or using non-OEM fluid might get pushback. It will be interesting to see how Porsche handles these situations.

How would they know? They don't have oil analysis techs standing around waiting to check what oil is in your transfer case. Forgeddaboutit.

Received this email today:
Dear Mr. Peterson,
Thank you for your patience while I reviewed your case internally. I apologize for the delay in my response but I am happy to prove you with a case update.
PCNA announced an extended warranty on the transfer box for certain Porsche makes, years, and models. This warranty went live within the last week and we are currently in the process of establishing our third party processing department for reimbursement and repair claims. While we are unable to provide you a direct resolution regarding your recent repair of your transfer box, we are happy to say that you will be receiving a letter in the mail within the next 1-3 weeks with detailed steps on submitting a claim.
Additionally, please consult with your dealership regarding your transfer box repair that is still needed. They are in the best position to advise on this new warranty, your current coverage, and updated costs especially now that all of our systems have been updated to reflect these warranties.

If you only purchased the warranty for transfer case coverage, you could call and cancel the warranty. At this point, they should give you the entire purchase price back or a large portion of it.

Where did you buy it from and how much was it? I was considering doing this myself for a peace of mind. If you hold on to it, you will probably get a use out of it.

This reminds me of my Acura MDX torque converter issue. Everybody and their Service Advisor and Mechanic’s grand nephews knew about it but Honda denied denied denied. The posters on the forum were showing the forum to the service advisors and they would lie and say it’s not Honda authorized website,etc...people got pissed, so much so they complained to NHTSA, wrote letters and phone calls to attorney generals, etc...years later Honda decided to cover the torque converters free of charge. I believe this was via recall.

I had my TC replaced Tuesday, fully covered. I brought it in last month 1 day before the warranty (the new one) expired, talk about good timing! At that, it took several days to get it approved as I do have over 100k miles and even though it is unlimited, they do push back by default on anything with over 100k miles.
NOW I get to see if I will be reimbursed for the 2016 TC replacement I paid for, just waiting for the letter to arrive.
