Cayenne Coding - The Ultimate Guide & Discussion
#1006
ok I have coded my earlier Audi A6 to heat the engine with good luck.
Just need to tell the car that the N279 ( Audi & VW part) valve is not installed.. and then its deactivated and the heater heats both the engine and passenger compartment.
But i am kind of new to Porsche coding so thats why i am asking for help :-)

Here is the only thing I've found; don't know if it applies to your vehicle so you should check as this is mainly for 997s concerning incorrect oil pressure data in the DME. Please see the attached.

So that brings me to this.
I was following the instructions here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...65172-9999.pdf
Please note I have a 2011 CTT with the very old version of the PCM. The version that has an IDE hard drive and is version 2. something.
I have the code and I used my PIWIS to enter it.
I did unlock some features previously unseen on the radio but it still seems to do squat.
Now since this thread is about coding. I was able to enter the Sport Chrono Key on my X431 and PIWIS
But here's where (to me) it gets interesting.
The PDF says to change the Compas to QR4 or QR5. I have no QR4 or 5, only QR0, and two more.
Then further in the instructions, it says to Enable Sport Chrono in the PCM (that was there)
So, I'm thinking does the PCM have something to do with it? Are some of the features we all want like the liftgate closing from the button on the door stored in the newer PCM?

Another odd thing I noticed is this. I change it from A8B Basic Equipment to A8D Turbo, saved it. Let the car sit and shut down then checked again and the coding held.
I wonder:
1: Does it matter, and
2: Why was it wrong?

My car was serviced at a dealer its entire life so I'm surmising this is a campaign that was active when that copy of PIWIS was made and no longer applies.

this is a common feature with Piwis:
if you code a value which sits in more than 1 ECU, for the sake of consistency it will not be stored. You don‘t get an error message, btw.
select multiple ECUS to code the respective value and you‘ll be fine. If you don‘t know the ECUs exactly - just select all and only change that single entry. Piwis takes care of the rest and codes the appropriate ECUs.
one good example in my case was Start/Stop coding. In my Cayenne it sat in 4 ECUs, in my Macan it‘s even 5 ECUs.

I don't know about you guys but I really don't like the way the cruise control works. On my car, when I "slow down" with the cruise control engaged, it clicks down to mph instead of how most other cars "coast". The way I drive, I like coast much better. I realize that all I need to do is click the lever one more time to resume the present speed. It's that extra click that bugs me. First world problems I know.
Have any of you guys poked around in the cruise control? Have you seen any settings? I'm gonna take a look this afternoon. I'm also gonna see if the cruise control has a "remember last state". I live on the freeways and it would be cool for the cruise control to be in it's ready state each time I start the car.
