I got the V for $767 Amazon lighting deal, otherwise I'd probably get the latest Diagun for $707. I can't find any indication that the latest 2021 versions have any different capabilities. Except the V+ can add on heavy truck module. Software all seems to be the same, and all the Porsche needs is the regular OBD2 connection.

I'm happy with my Diagon. I have a PIWIS 2 for those things it might not be able to do and I've used my X431 on my C63, C7 Z06, and an old Grand Cherokee to code keys, remotes, and a new computer.
don't own a Ferarri, but I have a feeling if I did have one of those too I might not give two ****s how versatile the tool was. I'd buy the right tool for the job.

If you're curious if the lesser tools will work I'd be willing to loan you my Diagun if you wanted to see if it worked or not.

Thanks TMC
I'm still brainstorming if I get the PIWIS 3 or an X431
And since the Turbo is a smaller but newer version of the Torque I think I'd get one of them. And if I do, I'd like to compare yours, the Mini, V and V+ functions

I have managed to do the teardrop coding and plan to have a play but all my time has been consumed in finding another screen that I may have to code. Do any of you guys know the location or locations so that I can enable the tick box as I am struggling to find it. May be it’s in a sun menu of a sun menu ?

Trying to find the location on a launch coding machine so that the Tiime Chrono box pops up in the instrument cluster to enable the back light for the retrofit clock that I’ve fitted. Clock works fine no light at night though. Been searching for weeks now on and off. Many thanks.
Any/ all help appreciated
Search for my posts in the DYI for clock wiring. I mentioned how it's done. I had the same problem as you. The light wasn't there until I enabled it. Can't remember if I used the x431 or PIWIS at the time.

Hi thanks. I have searched through the threads and I came across yours which stated that to get the back light to work you enabled the chrono time check box under the settings in the instrument cluster.
so I don’t suppose you remember if it popped up after fitting like other owners have or did you code it ?
if so where ?
It’s no wonder I am
bold but hey I e got a chrono stopwatch now on my cluster 😂😂😂

I had to add mine because it wasn't enabled. Maybe yours has bad light? I must admit at first, when I got the light to work, I thought it wasn't working, because the light is so faint. You barely see it in the dark

Thanks for the reply. I am going to turn up the brightness tonight when it’s dark and take a look. Still doesn’t detract though from the fact that I cannot get the check box to come up in my time date settings though.

Has anyone tried this?
If so, do we need a Porsche battery or will other brands work?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My launch x431 Pro couldn't code battery. Lucky I have PIWIS II and I was able to code it successfully!

This is 3rd thing I have tried using x431 and it failed me.

To anyone debating this, I would strongly suggest getting PIWIS II especially if you are going to add new features (retrofitting) on your Porsche

I'd still like to know who has a PIWIS III running with the date set to 2021. One of the vendors has a laptop kit at $1088 and I bet they'll drop in price soon-also, the advantage of a Piwis is you can follow the service manual instructions, X431 not so much

911-997 that's interesting as I asked specifically to Launch whether it could recode the battery on a 2020 MACAN and they said yes; I haven't had to try it yet but was lining up my ducks. I wonder if this is a Cayenne specific impediment as IIRC many people have recoded their batteries with x431.

JB911, the issue with PIWIS is that it only does Porsche and updates are not that frequent not to mention yearly subscription. The Launch gives you2 free year of updates and thousands of cars. If you have a varied non Porsche stable, PIWIS is not really practical vs Launch IMHO of course

If you don't have newish Porsche model then why do you need PIWIS III ?

I would just buy PIWIS II from one of sellers online for $400. It will do the job for at least 958 Cayenne and previous model.

I'm aware of all options and issues-I've been posting on 3 or 4 Piwis threads on rennlist too. As far as I know a complete laptop with Piwis II is around $798. I'm not doing the VM Ware Fusion route with my Mac. A Lenovo T450 system with PIWIS III is $1088 so just a bit more than a II, and from what I've read it has more features and advantages than the II, even though the II wound be fine for my 997.
The X431 I am considering is the Launch Tech USA version X431 Torque. It does more and has different software than the rest of the world Mini, V and V+. It might be that the V+ has some or the same capabilities as the Torque, and the only way to tell would be comparing them side by side. I've posted that the Ferrari owners use the Torque on 430s and 458s but they concluded the rest of the world ones were not capable in calibrating transmission/F1 and ediff-

So for me it's Piwis III or X431 Torque. The Torque was on sale at around $1300 but the promotion is over, they're usually around $1500
I'll look into the complete Piwis II again, but those laptops are even older than the Lenovo T440/450 and Yoga models the III comes in, and those are already old even though they are supposedly refurbished
