Great suggestion. I tend to think pastel colors look good on GB but don't generally work on CW.

I love macadamia on a 911 carrera but for some reason on a GT3 it just looks so wrong.

I actually like it too. I think it would look better with standard silver wheels though.

Default Upgrade to RS

So I’ve had my 7.2 GT3 for 8 months now and had the best driving summer in memory. Put 4k miles on her, sitting at 43k now.

I can’t help but scratch that itch and am looking into upgrading to an RS. I’m probably going to do the same thing I did at switchcars and trade in my GT3 and pick up the RS at the same shop, to try and seek any discounts by giving the dealer an opportunity to double dip.

$50k differential is still non-existent; I think a $100k difference is the fair market difference for my higher mileage car. Looking for higher mileage RS, too (30k+) so maybe it makes it easier. Appealing to the RL gods to help satiate me without breaking the bank! Logic tells me I’m not getting $100k more car for my money, but anything below that and I’d probably be game.

It's a tough call. Why do you want the RS? Driving-wise the gearing and LWFW are a huge difference and about $20k if you were to upgrade your GT3. It certainly has more presence than a non RS when trying to get the gold medal at C&C as well.

It’s going to sound silly but I like the look and the cache that comes with the RS. I like the 2-color scheme and stickers. I prefer the wing and wide body. I like how all the options I’d want for my GT3 would be standard with an RS, like the LWFW, intake, dynamic engine mounts, etc. I really wanted FAL, full leather and dynamic cornering lights in a GT3 but mine doesn’t have them, so this is a chance for me to try and find that in the RS (I’ve found most RS to be higher spec’d, so probably better chance of finding them all).

$80k to get the Sharkwerks 4.1 treatment so there’s that to consider, too. Probably best for a high mileage GT3. But it still won’t look like an RS!

@Wonderdan what were your reasons for upgrading to the RS?

Whoever came up with the "RS is RS" phrase was a true connoisseur!

In my own fantasy world (can't financially do it) the only RS I would upgrade to would be a white with gold decals like RapidGT has.

@fayraree not a crazy amount of differences between the GT3 and RS. Shorter gearing (gears are 13% shorter in RS), LWFW, and different feeling front end (more responsive and feel) are the most notable to me. Car does feel a little more stable and agile. I noticed that the RS sounds slightly different (more raspy) when you wind the car out. Maybe from the different intake of the RS, but not exactly sure. I thought when I bought my car the price difference was worth it since the car was a long term keeper. However since then the price delta has almost doubled (comparing cars with similar mileage and spec) and not totally convinced it’s worth the jump from a driving perspective. Maybe from a collectibility, looks, or badge standpoint it’s worth it in the long run for some (this is the last Rennsport generation to have a manual and the Mezger engine along with other things), but a lot of extra dough (~$100k) for changes that don’t vastly improve the driving experience. I attached a couple articles by Jethro Bovingdon comparing the GT3 to the RS on the road and track. These are the best articles comparing the GT3 to the RS.

@fayraree Your reasons don't sound silly. I think every P-nerd here wants every RS ever made, even if they already own the non-RS variant. I know I do.

I'm certain the driving experience delta doesn't justify the price delta, but if you mostly want the RS cache and aesthetics, that's a perfectly valid reason.

I debated selling my stock 7.2 to get into a higher mileage, tracked RS, but that was strictly out of a desire jump into a track-ready 7.2 without having to do all the work on my car. Now I'm already down the mod rabbit hole with my car, so that ship has sailed.

But yeah, absent budget and space constraints, I'd have both. Just to have them.
