Not 4.0 money anymore. I doubt you could get one under $600k.

I wouldn't take less than $300k for my plain jane grey black. These cars are getting harder to replace.

There’s some talk in this thread about the car being kinda rough:

Reserve not met on this one @ $284k. I think accusations and questions regarding paintwork at the last minute from a reputable source caused some to get cold feet.

That was baffling. The seller certainly would have a proper paint meter, but what Doug pointed out was accurate. Then the seller measures TWO cars he had on hand with similar results?

Interesting comments, but the rollbar was the more off-putting issue for me.

agreed,... and even funnier to then read the comment from "TheNewJudge" "can you guys just exchange phone#’s so that the rest of us are spared from your small talk?" ... when the seller had mentioned the other auction already.

Doug gave the seller a very easy "out" w/r/t his paint meter possibly being off calibration. I was surprised seller did not run with that at the end of the auction. ... "oops, too late to re-take paint depth readings in the last few minutes of the auction,.. but yes my meter is off,... and please keep bidding higher on the this original paint car!!!". hahaha

selling a car these days takes special skills ... that are really not that special. But because of the rareness of those skills,... they have now indeed become "special".

It was not all accurate in terms of factory paint thickness.

Seller must be fuming.

Seller noted the car had PPF, but for some reason I thought the whole car had it. Just has it on the front apparently. Their paint meter readings in many places are definitely over OEM thicknesses with or without PPF and make me wonder if they need to recalibrate their equipment unless they bought two RS’ with full resprays. The readings are all over the place in the video and in the pictures.

The seller would have been better off not posting those readings--he should have known that everyone is looking for 3-6 mil readings (+ some amount for panels with PPF). And, for me, metering the other car did not remove the doubt because, as you said, both cars could conceivably have had full resprays. More likely, however, both cars have original paint and it is just calibration of equipment, but he unnecessarily introduced an issue and then failed to resolve the issue in a compelling/definitive manner.

There were panels on that RS without any PPF.

I'm speaking to his comment on all factory paint falling between 3-6mils.
