Porsche does make great steel brakes but I will say that after having owned 911s with both steel and PCCBs, I would never buy another GT car without PCCBs, unless I felt like I was getting a significant market discount on an otherwise perfect car. I suppose that translates to that I would pay a significant premium for one that does have them. One boutique dealer that had bought cars from me in the past recently made me a very high, unsolicited, offer to buy my car. I asked why he would be willing to pay me more than what he was asking for a similar car he already had in his inventory. His answer, "yours has PCCBs, mine doesn't, and I have buyers that won't buy a GT3 without them".

I thought steels work better for street driving since they don't require heat to work like PCCB.

I thought that too before I bought mine. I had read & heard that same thing,.. & before owning them I was a tad bit worried they would not perform well when cold. But so far, in my experience, by the time I've got the oil warmed up, and another 15 min till I'm on some good roads to really get into it,.. they're warm enough that I don't notice much of a difference between that point, and the point in which they are the hottest they will get for my level of B road driving.

so maybe my experience is a factor of where I live. It takes me a good 15-20 minutes before I'm on my best roads, and starting to really lay into the car. So geography may matter. You guys who live at the base of those Cali Canyons are blessed and have a playground at your fingertips.

I had also heard that PCCB's squeaked real bad too. I do not have that experience either.

My PCCB's are silent and stop on a dime.

That's only the case for true carbon brakes such as those found on race cars. The PCCB is a different compound and requires absolutely no heat build up to work effectively. PCCBs have better feel and bite compared to steels as soon as you start driving, at any temp. As excessive heat builds up, the steels drop off in performance while the PCCBs remain consistent. Some say the PCCBs feel even better when hot, but I never found that to be the case. Maybe I don't drive aggressively enough. To me, they always feel consistent which is why I prefer them. I've never heard a squeal out of my PCCBs. I have had steel brakes that squeal a bit, but never to the point of being annoying. I don't think there is an advantage there for either disc material.
I'll also add that my experience is only with factory PCCB pads. Perhaps some after-market "track pads" that people use do result in squealing and need some heat to work.

I just don't get it......
Are people really that dumb ???
Yesterday, a wrecked up white 997.1 GT3 sold at Copart for $64k + fees etc which would bring it closer to $70. Complete left side damaged, the front right shock tower was obviously blown, broken windows and who knows what else.
And it has a salvage titile. Still needs to be fixed and inspected to obtain a rebuilt title.
Yet mine, with rebuilt title already in hand, fully sorted and in excellent condition with all the right upgrades, isn't getting any bites at $99k ???????
I'm just dumbfounded here.
Maybe it's time to sell the 996/3 and keep this as my track rat. I like it better anyway.

Do you have it advertised anywhere other than RL? Many people on here are very picky or just tire kickers (not anyone in this thread, of course )They shop DME reports, build sheets, and prominence rather than great driving cars.
Put it on a website like Autotrader or Cars.com so it's exposed to a broader audience and I'm sure you'll find a buyer.

I think BAT will give it the best exposure. You'll have to deal with, or not, the peanut gallery, but it is a lot of exposure.

Drola, did you sell your RS? I don't see it under your signature. I assume you did not sell it, but thought I'd ask.

The red car for $99K is the right price. Yes, the rebuilt title will brace a few, but on the right site you will get it sold. I think Autotrader and Cars.com will yield results. BAT works too, but be prepared for the noise. GLWS, it will happen

I agree, but please know that BaT might require NO RESERVE on any GT3 that has a rebuilt title.

Widers911 & I were JUST talking about that same topic Drola. Yes we whole heartedly agree that $70k is bonkers for that white copart car, when yours can be had AT the ask of $99k.

But ya know what. In my opinion, eBay is no longer the great marketing place it once was for cars. From within your eBay account, I'm sure you can see how many people are viewing your eBay FS ad, and those (like me) who put it on my watch list, but are not a buyer. I agree with the others above,... take it off eBay, and put it on cars.com, autotrader & carguru's. I bet you'll get more bites.

I know, off topic, but did you guys see the Speed Yellow e92 M3 sell for $150k today on PCAR market? That's a record price and probably a $75k premium for the (porsche color) paint job.

Yes, crazy bid increment. Buyer really wanted it. This was a perfect spec. Maybe cloth seats would have made it better but that’s nit picking now.
