The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...

I think the 996 gt3 Snaveed bought was just to round out his collection, but he was outbid on the GT2… I didn’t know how much of a premium GT2s brought but with their production numbers less than 100 it doesn’t surprise me. That red 997 GT2RS w/carbon hood that sold on Pcar was just amazing looking… I have the GT2 carbon mirrors and they are sweet, of course I was lucky they came on the car I would never pay $4000 for mirrors.

I stalked him. He does work. It's not oil money that I can see. But I don't buy that they are in a collection. I go with export. Somebody here looked up the VINs of his purchases and as I recall there was no record of change of registration. So if there are here, he's just holding the pink slips.
Now if we take his word for it that they are an inflation hedge, there might be something to it based on earlier purchases. But how do you make money on a $220k 996 GT3? You pay to ship it, store it, and if it needs anything fixed....well...
It's a mystery.
One more idea: Money laundering? Hmmmm. But this is hardly an under-the-radar way to achieve it.

agreed. this is something i will never understand, but then again ive never collected anything in my life. the dream would be to be rich enough to buy this 4.0L and beat the living hell out of it but even looking at RS prices now at days, for what i spent for my .2 gt3 if i ever wanted an upgrade id just send it off to bbi for a 4L and suspension upgrade and still have money left over lol

Yes - i am local to this car and coincidentally drove past the dealership a couple of weekends ago so I figured I'd stop in to check it out. First impression was that the car looks terrible. It's got its 15yr old clear bra on the entire front end (fenders, hood, bumper) that has yellowed severely. There is fairly heavy wear on the interior, particularly the driver's seat and steering wheel. The car has definitely been tracked. Paint looks OK but is not pristine, however it looks all original. Overall the car looks well used, certainly not a pampered example. The main concern would be that removing the old clear bra could pull chunks of paint off, given it's been on there for so long. Something tells me the dealership has the same concern, which is why they haven't done it when prepping the car for sale.
Even in this crazy market, this car is probably worth $125K-$130K max, IMO. I haven't driven it so can't comment on mechanicals. hope this helps!

I also am relatively local and went and looked at the car and drove it. Ultimately bought another 997.1 GT3. The car drove well and tight. They apparently spent a lot on servicing it upon purchase. Given the PPF, the paint was in pretty good condition. Yes PPF was old but had clearly done its job protecting the paint. The interior is where it fell short (and the wheel color on white wasn’t for me). It appeared car had been well tracked; there is a roll cage installed and damage from cage. I could deal with the bolster and alcantera wheel wear (wheel was clean). Car had an aftermarket nav stereo, ripped up rear shelf showing foam and damage to the plastic sport seat shells from the cage. It was an extremely low optioned car so price felt just plain wrong at $150k, and the justification was other dealer asking prices (yawn). I went in thinking maybe 130k and couldn’t justify that after seeing it. I gave them my 2 cents on their price. It ultimately convinced me to go for one of the other cars on the market. I think they have too much in to sell below $130.

This Grey Black/White Gold .2 RS was on Merit Partners Instagram story a couple days ago. PCCB, FAL, and full leather w/yellow deviated stitching. I think the car just came in and is possibly available.
