Do I dare say it seems reasonable?
It WAS reasonable. That's why it's already sold.

Agreed... a lot of people 'like myself' falsely think others will like the personal touches we add... in reality they just want to see it bone stock and evaluate its quality. The autoblip makes it annoying, they should have that removed before selling... imo 997 buyers don't want auto blip or they would buy a GT4.

I'm with you. Full wrap is price negative, not additive. Eventually it may degrade then you have to remove it, and there's always a risk of paint coming with it. Super rare, but happens if there is an impact of some sort in that area. Happened to me on an F430 and a clear bra, but may have been a fluke. Nice car, nicely maintained by appearance, no PCCB or full leather.

The black car at Porsche Downtown Chicago was bought by the last owner in October according to Carfax, then put it up for sale two months later? I might ask them if they know why.

Maybe this is for sale, but probably not. Still nice eye candy though. PTS Guards Red .2 RS at JZM Porsche in the UK. Guards Red with the White Gold contrast looks awesome.

Yep, I looked at it Sunday evening. Thought I was going to look at a .2 GT3 only to find out that it was at a different Park Place dealer located in TX.

I didn’t know that was a thing until a few months ago when I went in to refresh my Xpel …adding the roof and rear and they said don’t refresh until it’s absolutely necessary. The headlights are apparently a big no-no now and the front and rear bumper are notorious for paint peeling. They actually had a GT4 there where the paint came up and had to do a full repaint of the bumper.

This one about a week and a half ago failed to meet reserve on Pcarmarket and got up to $140k. The seller then put it in the deal tank for $160k and ended up accepting an offer for $148k + $5k buyer’s premium.

LOL if he read/listened to this thread he could have made 20k more... lots of inventory cycling, $150k seems like a healthy basis to land on after the Oct Frenzy.

Price doesn’t seem right unless the car is a salvage title or something. Still, I don’t think GP Motors would take in a salvage title car even though some of their cars have stories.

I talked to them this morning, they said it was a mistake... its $265k

Original paint? Was it on a bumper or metal panel that it pulled? I could see on a bumper, specifically a repaint, where pulling paint is a possibility. I've pulled paint on a repaint when removing XPEL in the past and this was newer film.

So they were saying don't pull it off until necessary? Some shops will say to replace it earlier on to avoid the issues where the glue starts to really adhere to the paint over a long period of time and increases the risk of pulling paint. Yes, headlights can be an issue, but I'd still recommend doing them. Reason why is you're either going to have a bunch of chips, or pull the UV coating. If you pull the UV coating, it should be pretty easy, just wet sand, polish and put fresh XPEL on and you're set for the next 5 years and just keep replacing the film. On paint, you should minimize the risk on original paint, especially if removed properly (steam and pulling with the paint at a 45 degree angle instead of up from the paint at a 90 degree angle). But, this is the reason I am putting off replacing the XPEL on my car. The risk of pulling paint. I likely will wait until 2023, at which point the film is 8 years old and at that point I will just accept the risk that paint may come with it. I will document everything prior to removing the film too.

I had my clear bra replaced on my 997.1 RS and it peeled paint on the bumper. Looked like the factory made a spot repair before paint and it didn't stick as well.

Ferraris are notorious for "thin" paint and clear bra pulling the factory paint.

My 997-2 RS had PPF applied when new. It saw a decent amount of track time in its early life and the film was in poor shape when I bought it but I knew the paintwork underneath was good. 3 years ago I had it replaced. The shop had a really hard time pulling the PPF but there were no issues with the paint and it was absolutely perfect underneath. The film did its job! They put new film on and 3 years later it looks brand new.
